I usually like Doug and love that this was on his wish list for a year but after three minutes his continued mispronunciation of Jaguar really started to get to me...no "w" in there Doug.

From the discussion of the pronunciation of Jaguar here I suspect that several of you didn't have the staying power to watch Doug go on for 25 minutes about the Project 8 XE.
I generally like Doug's reviews so I suffered through it and after his frothing about how the Project 8 XE is the "fastest sedan ever to go around the Nurburgring track" he proceeds to give it a 9 in acceleration and a 7 for handling, hmmm... seems like there's a little bias at play. First, I'm not sure that the M5 having a faster straight line time should be the only thing considered when evaluating acceleration and the 7 score for handling, really? It's the fastest sedan ever to go around Nurburgring. What is he comparing the handling to, a formula car?

oh I did get to the Doug Score. I think his biggest problem was thinking it was a $200K XE and if he gave it higher scores that he’d be called out by the “buy a Dodge Hellcat” crowd on his video comments. That and the folks who claimed in three years they would pick one up for $30K because you know, Jag depreciation. But as Clarkson pointed out there are probably only two body panels in common with the XE, everything else is pretty much SVO custom.
Doug is representative of the new "car enthusiast." He shows how priorities have shifted from power, handling, and quality to how much the new car experience reminds him of the new phone experience, which is his generation's definition of joy.
A typical Doug review spends 25 mins reviewing phone-like features, followed by 2 mins of straight driving to simulate a CVS run, followed by 3 minutes of Doug Score that always comes out to the same number, because it combines the practical and not practical.
But the number one consideration of the Doug generation, it seems to me, is the subliminal mental calculation of how many likes a selfie in front of the car might receive. That is what makes the buying decision. I'm not ragging on them, it just the new reality.
Bit like the Series III F -Type owners on the UK forums....Only moaning that they can't get signal to upgrade 'this and that' on their infotainment system ;-)
That should be reserved for phones...I couldn't give a c*** where my phone is, or what the dash screen says when I'm out for a 'Hoon'!
Have I got oil pressure??? - that's my infotainment...which of course is missing on the F-Type!
DON'T get me started on Jag-wah, Jag-wire - Jag-u-R...Queens Engrish!
Even though I have only driven the P8 from the dealer to my home. The drive way very much a different experience than my other Jaaaags. The car is very much track focused even in comfort mode. The ride is firm and the sound is louder than the P7. I did baby it home and drove the speed limit . Kept the revs relatively low.
Next summer after putting on some kilometers to let every thing wear in, I will report back after some spirited driving.
