Default Third brake light access

I'm wondering if anyone has successfully accessed the third brake light on a convertible. I have a blinking light module that I'd like to hook up, but I'm not sure where to start. I'm guessing I have to remove the carpeted part on the underside of the trunk lid, but I don't want to break a bunch of clips by tugging in the wrong place. Has anyone tackled this before?

We had two LOOSE clips on that 'carpet panel' when we got our car. Used a drop of JB Weld on each to secure 'em back into place.

I suggest using plastic door panel removal tools to pry AROUND each clip.

If you want to replace broken clips, first effort is to buy a cheap kit like this. My experience is each would cost 20X more than ONE OEM clip. (The Concours judges would never be the wiser, LOL)

Well, as it turns out I did not need to pull that carpet panel off. I have an SVR with the carbon spoiler - that needed to be raised, then four bolts taken out from underneath the spoiler to remove it. Then, from the underside of the trunk lid, I had to pry out two, rectangular rubber grommets to reveal four more bolts which hold the next panel on (this panel is the spoiler from the R model - it is bolted down on the SVR model). Before removing this panel, I had to lower the spoiler brackets back down, then removed the panel, which revealed the third brake light. Four more bolts holding that down and I was good to go.
