Thoughts on trading f-type for the upcoming Zo6

There is another option I have been considering...
Keep enjoying my F-type through 2015 (and really have some fun with it, driving to the east coast and maybe even down to Florida to visit family next summer).
Then, in 2016 (which it would have approx. 20-25k miles on it), trade it in for: . . .

In these situations, you generally never lose by waiting. Also, by 2016 the Vettes will be heavily discounted since they'll no longer be new.

It will be a long time before you're paying even MSRP on a Z06. The standard C7 is generally selling for MSRP here in the Bay Area.

I used to work for a Chevrolet dealer close to 10 years ago. Things may have changed now, but it was well known it took being on a waiting list or paying well over sticker to get one quickly. We were the only dealer in town that didn't put a $4k markup on Corvettes and we had a 2 year waiting list at sticker price. This would have been about a year after the C6 release.

I saw a new white corvette convertible this evening. Looked bad *ss. Very angular, futuristic and robotic looking.
Did you guys know that the F type is the same length as the vette, and a little wider? My eyes deceived me.

Some people will say it's a Chevy or whatever, but if u can get past that, then I think it's a great choice. Just like they say a GT-R is a Nissan (which I think is ugly). That thing is going to be a real performer; acceleration, handling, braking. It will probably be as fast if not faster than the C6 zR1 and handle better with better interior and exterior. If you're going to change your F Type for a different sports car in that price range, you can't go wrong with the z06. I say do it, but in the end it's what makes you happy.

I was really surprised at how long and wide the F Type is, though. I thought it was the size of a Miata.

I looked for a link confirming this but couldn't find one. Let me know if you see one. That's interesting that they would change the entire body of the car for the z06, and by that much.

Says the rears are 335s and 3.5 wider than base. They'll have accompanying body work to hiuse the wide rear tires. So it'll be minimum 3.5 inches wider.
Z06 will be absolute monster. I might forget about the brand prestige and uniqueness, performance is just too insane.

Yes looks like it was a relatively easy change though, because all they did was extend the fenders. That'll give the z06 some nice curves in the front and rear fenders.

I love my 2014 base v6 f-type, but I seem to have a problem holding onto a car for more than 2 years (owned 9 cars in the past 10 years). The F-type is a great combo of comfort/sport/luxury and I get tons of compliments. I have never been a fan of previous Vettes, but the C7 is in a totally different league compared to its predecessors.
Curious to see what you guy think about trading in my F-type (paid off) next spring for the 2015 Zo6. I only need to have one sports car. (my daily driver is a Hummer H2). I like the fact that the new Zo6 has a removable roof (giving me some open air driving options), insane power and a very exotic look.

I do know it's my choice. I guess the reason I like to switch out and try multiple cars out is cause life is too damn short and I like to sample. I have thought about trading for the R or even the eventual RS, but with my current car being paid off, it would feel strange paying an additional 30-40k for a model upgrade. As for the Zo6, I would be happy to get the base 1LZ trim package, and then add a Corsa Xtreme exhaust to it. Before taces, that would run approx. $81,000 which a crazy value for the performance and not much extra $ to pony up.
I would not recommend getting a "base" anything. If you have a Jaguar now and then go to a "base" model Stingray, you will find disappointment. You need to have the top end! Go for a LT 3/Z51 package and forget the Z06. The 600+ HP is for track use. You do not need to have that much power in the city. It will either kill you or get you arrested for a long time.
I would say to consider keeping the Jaguar and purchasing the C7!
