After nine great years, It's time to say good by. I have owned and enjoyed three F Types and previously posted in another thread, "To Keep Or Not To Keep?". Well, I answered my own question and went with the Not. I will miss going on this Forum every morning with my cup of coffee. You have all been a part of my daily routine and I'll miss your wisdom and banter. I've taken the liberty of posting the cars replacement. I have never owned a BMW (M850i xDrive) and believe me I have owned lots of cars! I hope the people on the BMW Forum as are great as you all. That will be difficult as you have set a high bar.
When you feel nostalgic, pack your clubs and head East. Nothing like popping down to Pinehurst for a round and a Mitchter's old fashion. You can even drive.
Dave, that was my close second choice. The All wheel steering, the power, the comforts, the great sound system and even the crystal shifter...it's a heck of a package. I had picked out Carbon Black, which has a bit of a purplish tint. Really an amazing car.
Thanks for asking. This is the first BMW if have owned and to summarize, it has far exceeded my expectations. The lines of the 850M series coup are pleasing and the twin turbo 537 HP is impressive. What I especially enjoy is the technology and the infotainment's intuitiveness. The cars voice commands require no crazy protocol, simply "talk" to the car. By way of example, if you tell the car you're tense, it changes to meditative music and pulls up a soothing picture on the screen. It is also equipped with a hand gesture feature for controlling the music and telephone procedures. I'm having a ball learning and using all that this car has to offer. As for their Forum, it's horrible very few exchanges and not not much of it is pertinent.
The 8 series cars were very tempting to me. The (optional) Bowers & Wilkins sound system in them is just amazing and the cars depreciate even worse than F-Types, so they make a very attractive CPO proposition.
Unfortunately, when I drove one it just felt enormous. It still cornered well, but just felt a bit intimidating to drive around city streets.

Agree on all of your observations. The sound system is amazing, as for depreciation the one I purchased is a 2021 with 7K on the clock. The monroney was $123K and the price paid was $76K with lots left on the manufacturers warranty. It is definitely bigger than the F Type however, for its size quite nimble. Two very different cars, each in their own way a blast to own!
I think the newer BMW's have lost some of their charm, but you'll still have a blast. I have a 99 that I literally just took for a drive and the analog nature is great. Until you need to replace the hydraulic steering rack, which is actually due for me, lol. Anyways the 8 series is beautiful. I've found the BMW forums (E46 at least) to be very knowledgeable, and more aftermarket support than the F-Type for sure.
