Don't know the percentages but the tint is actually in the glass and meets the requirements of all 50 (United) States. Cannot be removed. Additional tint is accomplished with the application of tinted film.

The percentages are VERY low from the factory. If you are really worried about being legal, stay 5% above the limit with your tint and you should be fine.
A quality tint shop should also be able to guarantee you are legal (if you wish to remain so)

In the US each state has their own law regarding tint.

I've done many of my older cars myself, but as I get older and windows get more curves in multiple planes, it's just easier to pay someone else to do it now, but I still won't let the neighborhood teenager with a Facebook page for a tint shop do my work.

that looks like the rear and I wouldnt doubt thats tinted at 70%, it certainly looks that way. Are the sides and front tinted at 70% as well? How can we confirm this?
I'm thinking of going to my installer and using a spectrograph or whatever device they use to measure VLT to see what the values are.

Hmm, I still don't think thats right. Its probably a warning to not got below 70% since thats the legal limit in most states. In CA front tinting a windshield is illegal so I doubt OEM values for the front windshield are already at 70%.
I'm going to the shop tomorrow and they have one of those VLT measuring devices. I'll report back on once I test what the actual values are.
