Tire choise 19" propeller
Hi everyone,
Will replace my rear tires. I have a set of new P zero 275/35-19. I bought these recommended tires along with the car purchase late last year. Now, these tires are the worst set of tires I have ever had on any car. When the weather is good, they are totally fine. But I live in Sweden..... I don´t feel confident at all pushing my F-type, the rear can lose traction at anytime.
The 275 width seems to be streched onto the rims. I´m now thinking of 285/35-19 to get more grip and also these tires cost less than 275.
Reading through this forum, it seems like below tires are most popular for F-type:
Michelin PSS
Goodyear Eagle F1 assymetric
Falken FK510 ( which is a surprise. Would never thought about Falken on a premium car)
Questions; Should I go for 285 or should I stick to standard 275 width?
Any experience or suggestions of above tires?
Cheers.

Tire actual width (not the stamped number like 275) varies per manufacturer. If you look at sites like Tirerack, they do show you the actual width of the tires. Now, this is in regards to racing tires, but I use two different vendors for a "245" size tire. One manufacturer tire is almost a full inch wider than the other for the same "245".
For the street, tires are like religion. Some people have blind faith in a specific tire and you can't tell them any different. Find the tire that works best for your use cases and your budget. I don't think you'll gain anything up sizing the tire. Depending on the tire, it could actually be a bad idea to up size depending on how stiff the sidewalls are on the tire (if you are looking for handling).

I found that the Michelin’s are a bit wider than the PZeros of the same size. Even though the 285 tire is spec’d to fit on a 9.5” wide rim, its’s at the bottom no end of the 9.5-11” range, so the Michelin 285 might appear a bit pinched.
The additional 10 mm of treadwidth will result in an imperceptible increase in lateral traction. The real improvement will come by changing from the PZeros to a superior tire.

I’ll throw my two cents in as well, if you plan on driving your car when the roads are cold and damp, I found the F1 tires to be a set of ice skates. I had them on a Camaro 1LE and couldn’t get the tires to grab at anything above a moderate push of the go peddle. Absolutely dangerous at 40-45 degrees and below. I ride on the Michelin’s !

Thanks a lot guys.
After consideration, I will not go for the 285 width since this setup will most probably be even worse than 275 when the roads are damp.
Not that I usually use the car when it’s raining, however the roads in Sweden are often damp.
Still not sure if I will go for PS4s or maybe PS4 or other brand.
