The Tonsberg has left Southampton
And this is very good news for all of us awaiting our new F-Types.
The Tonsberg is the worlds largest (I think) RoRo vehicle carrier and is operated by the Wilhelmsen line. It is the line JLR uses to ship its cars around the world. The ship is currently doing 14.9 knots down the Solent and still has his pilot on board. It has an ETA in Auckland, New Zealand on 22nd July and so the car I ordered on April 14th has finally left its country of manufacture and is on its way. Next port of call is Baltimore (26th June) and then Savannah (29th June). Through the Panama Canal and onto Manzanillo on 3rd July (presumably to service the West coast of the States) and then across the Pacific to me.
After that I don't really care where it goes but it is doing Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Perth before offloading its last vehicles in Singapore in early August.
I think as well as my F type it also has the first F-Paces to be seen in Australia and New Zealand on board. As it started its voyage in Zeebrugge and then Bremerhaven it is presumably full of all sorts of european automotive goodness and not just JLR products.
For the first time since I placed my order i am allowing myself to get a little bit excited.
