Default Top Gear Series 22

just saw the ad for Top Gear Series 22, which starts here on January 26.

Features The Stig doing a launch in a Firesand F Type R. Hopefully there's a hot lap coming in Episode 1!

Jeremy Clarksons top gear drive of the F-Type S V6 convertible played a significant role in my purchase decsion. As it turns out my car could be the twin of the one he drives in that episode in pretty much every respect.

Hi AnD3rew. Great to see another Aussie here.

Congrats on your F Type. There's not many around here in Melbourne (which is a big plus as far as I'm concerned). I spotted a white S coupe in Geelong on a drive down to Queenscliff today - first coupe I've actually seen on the road besides mine. And I've only seen 2 convertibles in Melbourne (although I admit, it's a big city).

What about Sydney?

I watched, and re-watched - and re-re-watched - that clip, for the terminally unhinged, countless times while deliberating my purchase of my V6S Coupe. Indeed, next to sending friends the original "Villians" Super-Bowl commercial (Directors Cut please) that's my second favorite to forward.

At no point while I've been driving this have I thought, "yeah, but I wish it were a bit more exciting".

Happy driving AnD3rew!

So true.

Yes, the TG clip is fun to watch.

The clip that stuck with me and was a big factor in my decision was Chris Harris' review of the coupe.

And this track one...

Hi, thanks, yes very few in Sydney either, I have seen two convertibles at the Qants valet parking over the last year or so and I saw my first coupe out of captivity on the road a few weeks ago. And maybe one or two other convertibles around the place.

I'm still watching it over and over again as I am still waiting for another week or so for the real thing.

And I also got the opportunity to buy a V8 S for a very good price at the same time and was really struggling with whether I should extend myself that much further and Jeremy helped me come to my senses. To be honest there would be no way I would ever use anything like the capacity of either car, the only reason to buy a V8 would be the sound and with these cars again if you aren't satisfied with the sound of the 6 then you must be dead.

You folks from Oz seem to be actually ahead of my experience. After 9 months, I have yet to see another F-Type on the road in the Washington, DC metro area, and we have plenty of high-end vehicles in this relatively affluent area.

While I would welcome the chance to see another F-Type - besides those at my dealers - here in the state of Maine (big state, small population) I'm not holding my breath.

Anything other than the R was never a consideration for me. I saw the R, I drove the R, I bought the R. Are there other F-Types?

I wanted the power, I wanted the speed, and I wanted the V8 because chances are they will become extinct.

The 6 speed is more likely to go extinct.

Same here. Best marketing collateral Jag has for the F-Type.
I already have a rear plate frame with "TERMINALLY" molded on the top border. My vanity plate will read "UNHINGD".

That and the "Villians"* Super-Bowl commercial (a.k.a. "Big Game Rendezvous Directors Cut") from last year were my top two - and not even in that order - followed closely by Car Throttle and "Jaguar F-Type Coupe: The Best V6 Exhaust Note In History".

*Just a shame Jaguar succumbed to pressure claiming the "Villians" commercials - "now brace yourself" - promoted unsafe driving. BS if you ask me, and even if you didn't.

And you don't need the "E" in your UNHINGD plate because you have an "F", whatever the hell that means. Great plate nonetheless. I assume, being you're in Maryland, that you will be running with a front plate?

Not until I get a ticket when my wife's in the car. I went for several years without a front tag on my MINI.

Now the plate is attached to the tow hook.
