I also liked that he had a piece of the aluminum structure. Cool to see and I didn't realize it was that light. So why exactly does this car weigh almost 2 tons again?

Everything else weighs too much. That's why it doesn't weigh 4700 lbs.

I loved that and it would look great on my wall. I actually have one of my aluminum fenders from my 1997 Monte Carlo Blue NSX after getting hit - yes, he/she hit me - by a deer. All I recall it being very expensive to replace and the body shop guy asked me if I wanted the old one. Of course I did!

Seems Jeremy is kicking his heels at home after a 'fracas with a producer'

Top Gear's Jeremy Clarkson suspended by BBC over 'fracas' with producer | Media | The Guardian

Seems non plausible. Probably a publicity stunt.

They are pulling the next episode from airing though, seems pretty extreme for a publicity stunt. However, I hope you're right.

Clarkson has a history of not controlling his mouth - part of what makes him entertaining, as long as you don't take him seriously. He's an equal-opportunity offender.

Clarkson punched a producer (allegedly)

#BringBackClarkson

Apparently the rest of the season is cancelled.

Oh well - at least Game Of Thrones starts again soon.

I'm keen on the idea of Chris Harris as a replacement.

Chris is my favorite auto journalist by far. With that said, the irreverent and non-PC humor is what makes Top Gear the show it is and that all comes from Clarkson. The show will fade away without him.

Ditto. I like Chris Harris, but I've never seen any demonstration of quick wit and dry, sometimes zany humor, which is the essence of the show. The ratings for Top Gear will tank without Clarkson, and the BBC won't be patient enough to build them back up before canceling it.

So it seems the plot thickens.

The Top Gear stars were days away from signing a new 3 year contract.

Apparently the reason he punched the staffer is because they were on an out of town shoot and they served him some cold cuts for dinner instead of a steak as requested. Now according to some other people who have worked with the BBC their catering is a joke and it isn't surprising that Clarkson was pissed off.

I do wonder if he wants to leave the BBC. He sold his equity in Top Gear to the BBC two years ago. So I am sure his take is not what it used to be. Maybe he's thinking that if he gets fired before the crew resigns, all of them can create a new show and sell it other networks. They can get more money, better catering, and not need to worry about constantly being chastised for not being PC.

I thought he already signed the 3-year contract before this season started?

edit - apparently not

In today's episode, Hammond crashed the f-type into the wall on the track. It was painful to watch. He was all over the track though and went onto the grass several times so I guess it isn't a surprise that he hit the wall.

That was from last years series (I think it might have been the Ultimate Road Trip 2 special - not 100% sure)

I was surprised Mr Muscle-car didn't like the Jag. Not sure his words represented his true personal view - I suspect some of it was scripted for effect.

The petition to bring back Jeremy has reached almost 1 million signatures on Change.org. More than any other campaign. Can the BBC really ignore so may viewers?

That's impressive. I'm going to sign it too.

But of course they can ignore it - they're overly politically correct, stuffed shirt *******!

It was the Ultimate Road trip special 2, part 1. I'm not surprised it's an older episode but I think it was airing for the first time here in the US (according to my Tivo) There's always a delay in when they show the episodes here...
