The front tow hook stores by the battery in a styrofoam block. Here is a thread with some good photos of where it goes.

FWIW, I did get two hooks with my MY21 - one long and one short, and BOTH black. They just happened to be included in a bunch of several 'goodies' that the dealer gave me with the sale. There was no explanation as to what they were (or why they're reverse threaded), and no apparently place where they could be conveniently stored inside the car. My take is that distributing the hook(s) is dependent on the dealer/sales rep. After all, caveat emptor, right?
I CAN attest that the front tow hook is absolutely critical to getting the car up on a flat bed tow truck. However, I did notice that despite cranking down hard when installing the hook, it became loose after a single load/unload trip up and down the flat bed. As such, I'd probably not recommend leaving it in place any longer than is necessary.
And from other threads here, I understand that the back hook should ONLY be used as a tie-down, and not for towing. Thanks, group!!!
Still, I'm curious as to whether the aftermarket tow hook for the XF works on the F-Type... including installation and removal. I look forward to finding out...

I know this coz when I bought my F-Type it came with only the rear tow hook (the smaller black one) but the front tow hook from my XFR fitted perfectly.
