I just went to start a transmission fluid change before I put this thing back on the road when I noticed there are no transmisison heat shields on it. Parts 8 and 5 on this picture.
2 questions
1. Anyone know of a source? I am not seeing these as available even from dealers at least when searching on part numbers
2. Can I run without them , or can anyone take some measurements with good pictures so I can fabricate?
3. Thoughts on header/turbo wrap around the exhaust as an alternative?
Those shields are not a simple design. Have you considered buying them used from a wrecked F-Type? https://www.car-part.com/
Last summer I started my trans fluid drain BEFORE removing the shields. Uh-Uh! Finally took them off for clearance after burning my hands. <--- the scars took a month to heal, LOL
The yards I contacted either didn't know what they were or only wanted to sell the whole transmission so far.... OEM they looked to be fairly cheap, just not in stock in the US.
Turned out better than factory I think as I can stick my hand up between the exhaust and transmission now. Very scientific test I know. Transmission temps are also stable.
