Thanks for the picture jjslat. Much cleaner look. The downside would be the size. If you are out and need to take advantage of the deeper hole for a tall item, where do you put the cover. I think I'll just leave it as is. A small cover the size of the opening would have been more practical.

If I were a betting man, I'd say that cover IS from a coupe.
I agree with your line of thinking. I think I'll just make one using some thin fiberboard, a little OEM carpet material, and some locator tabs for each corner. Now just to get the time to do it....

I doubt your doubt, mine looks exactly the same as the pic - it covers both the cubby and the battery cover, see the recess arond both. Sounds like earlier models had a different arrangement.

I've never needed the cover in my coupe; however, there have been times I've needed it to not be there. The only reason I keep it in is I have one of those all weather truck liners in the back. On road trips with the SO, I always remove it and the hatch cover to get more space. It was funny on my last wine trip when I had to keep explaining to the people that I wanted individual bags for the bottles and not cases as I could not get more cases to fit in the back.

But the $64,000 question remains unanswered - will a later coupe one piece cover fit a 'vert???????
Edit - I'm a bozo - I finally got around to actually checking and my cover IS one piece. It's just that underneath that cover is a second piece on the left covering the battery, next to the cubby.
