Default Trying to find my desired manual coupe

I've been looking for a Manual F-type coupe for awhile now, and knowing the small numbers out there, and the even smaller numbers with the colors (Firesand or Caldera red) and options that I want (thanks to Ftyperegistry's great thread!)... I'm wondering what you all think about getting something that has the options I want and getting it painted. I know, it seems a little out there, but it would definitely help open up my chances.
Thanks!

You can easily wrap a car to a different color, if you have the money. I would recommend talking with one of your local wrap companies to get some pricing so you know what to expect. But yes, exterior color will be the easiest to change.

I think that would be money you’d never get back and in fact, reduce the value of the car.
I’d also get the MT in a convertible. Ideally 2WD V6 in IRR.
The coupe wants to be an Ultimate Black R.

BTW, a post showing owners who have wrapped their F-Types: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/f...-types-239347/

+1 on the idea to wrap it versus paint. If you find a legit wrapping operation, you'll likely be way happier with the wrap. Also, from a resale perspective, if you paint the car, you'll have a really hard time selling it.

The car wrap is definitely an idea too... there are some very interesting colors in that wrapping thread!

@bb_sam and @Robtrt8 wondering on your thoughts of why painting hits resale ability (not that I'm looking to sell something I haven't even bought yet, more from curious standpoint.. guess I never really thought about it).

You will be destroying a rare manual car, so don't do that. Instead, if color is that important to you, wrap it. So it could be undone.

I personally wouldn't buy a car if I found out that it was entirely repainted. Part of the issue my just be psychological for me -- I just kind of assume the worst if a car was repainted. Also, with these F-types (especially if you track down a manual transmission) they are really rare -- such that if you do decide to sell it one day, the buyers willing to pay the most will likely be very discerning in terms of the condition of the vehicle. Just like some people don't like modded cars -- I think the same is true for painted cars. It also happens to be that the cost and look of a wrapped car is (in my opinion) just as good (if not better) than a repainted car. So, if I had the choice, I would much rather wrap the car ... and then leave it in that condition for the next owner to decide whether to unwrap it. If they do, the paint underneath should be in pristine shape too.

Someone actually posted a crazy lime green wrap on a F-type Facebook forum. Take a look. Whether you like the color is not as important as how it truly looks like it's been painted that color.

Changing the color properly by painting is labor-intensive, therefore expensive. If the car hasn't been stripped to the shell it won't be really right. When done the easy way, the places that don't show directly become glaringly obvious when you open a door or look in the engine compartment.

A good wrap isn't cheap, but is reversible.

If I was going to wrap a car I would try to start with Black as the base car colour. That way the unwrapped bits (eg inside door handles) would look more natural.

You can also use plastip as a wrap, from memory someone her did that with a fairly decent result.

I have an ultimate black F type which I wrapped, you will see it in the thread linked above. I would not recommend plastidip, used it for the trim and wheels on my old G35 and it was a pain to get off.

My wrap the dealership literally thought was paint at first lol.

Thanks for the input, I can see where wrapping is probably the better big-picture option. I'll give it a while longer and see what happens (took me 6 months to find the Corvette I wanted and purchased, and I was less patient back then, haha).
