Trying to get a sense of VAP Valved exhaust sound level
I am hoping that you guys will be able to provide a bit advice regarding the sound level of the VAP Valved exhaust for the V8.
I attended an F-type meetup recently and was hoping to hear one in person, but had no such luck.
There were a couple of V8 attendees who had the 200 cell cats, and I loved the sound and the volume.
I am hoping that the exhaust alone can match the volume of 200 cell cats with the stock exhaust.
I've watched different videos, but with auto gain in mics it's impossible to tell absolute volume levels.
I don't want to go the downpipe route at this point because I've got a warranty until 2023, and believe cats would necessitate a tune to get rid of the CEL.
Thanks in advance for any experience or perspective you share.
Cheers,
Diallo

I put one on my v6S and when I started the car I nearly **** myself.
It insanely loud, hard to have a conversation on the phone during hard acceleration or going up a steep hill, unfortunately in the 6 at least it is droney at about 110kph ticking over at lowish revs, not sure whether that would be the case with the 8. You dont notice that around town, it is only on a long run at a constant speed, it gets pretty annoying. Which is where the mustang and XE come in...

Gooday Borbor, if you are sitting in 8th (auto) then around 100kph to 110kph seems to be the sweet spot if you love drone - about 1800rpm. If you dont like drone, then pop it into sport and drop it back to 7th and it is better, though I havent tried that on a long trip. dynamic or normal doesnt make any difference to drone, though normal mode is mentally loud, dynamic is so obnoxious that it can barely be believed. I love it.
It has a fantastic note, really bassy rumble and banging through the gears it sounds like a race car, but the drone takes some gloss off for long runs.

These v8s are already loud. And you will never pick up how much louder the car is with a different exhaust on it. It wasn't until someone drove my car stock that I realized how loud it was. And then I put 200 cell cats on it and had them drive it again and I was blown away. Then I got a Vap exhaust (unvalved race exhaust), and it sounds like a dragon. It's insane how much of a difference it is compared to stock. But on video it sounds similar so you can't really hear it. If I flew by you with my car, you'd think a nascar just went by. First video, my neighbor wanted a flyby. 2nd is me being followed when I got it installed.
