Default uh oh almost made 200 miles then.....

Not a happy camper

Now Im at day 5 of ownership and my yellow light came on "brake". Pulled over then parking brake fault message came up when I put in park. Called service and was told to turn off car lock at and wait 5 minutes, did so and now car wont release brake. Needless to say the flat bed was a difficult load. Back at dealer they started to take it apart had multiple fault codes this wasn't getting fixed today. Was given a ftype s ragtop loaner off the used car lot.

I can comment on comparison of s and r (the s isn't a v8s). The power difference is marked, the exhaust note really different, ragtop nice but it is a rare april 80 degree day here in metro ny. The r is so much a beast and more car than I need the s would've been fine- but now that Im spoiled its hard to look back.

There's a funky procedure for releasing the transmission from 'P' for recovery purposes (wasn't in the original manual, but should be in yours). But I don't recall if there's a similar way to release the parking brake.

Sorry to hear about that, but I hope it'll all be straightened out quickly! On the bright side, it's nice to compare the V6S and R - both capable, but very different animals.

Was this the real parking brake or just from the car in P, "park"? I have only put on the electronic parking brake if I'm on a steep hill. Hopefully this problem was a fluke and you get your car back in working order quickly.

It was the parking brake which self activated. Putting the car in gear wouldn't budge and didnt want to push the engine. Dealer did right took the s off the preowned lot had to de sticker it

So is the glitch that the parking brake self activated and then locked? So the car could still go into drive. Is that the issue?

Just clarifying since DJS is talking about releasing the transmission from Park into Drive vs releasing the electronic parking brake, which could be a whole different problem.

Normally you have to pull up on the electronic parking brake button to activate it.
Button labeled "P".

Glad the dealer is taken care of you. When I took my car in I got a POS V6 Camaro that looked like it was lived in.

Exactly this was not a transmission issue- the brake yellow light came on as I was driving unprovoked. I pulled over put the car in park and the dash gave a "park brake failure" failure indication Put the car in gear and it wasn't moving as the park brake was fully engaged - the car tried to push through it - I felt it better to stick it back in park. At that point I tried to release park brake to no avail. Recycled the computer turned car off and sat for 5 min and nothing changed

I don't recall who it was who posted a bunch of terrific technical docs, but I grabbed them. Here's the one on the parking brake.

That sucks. When I took mine in for some fixing, they gave me a brand new Evoque with about 80 miles on it to drive for about a week.
