UK Customs
Just for fun, I ordered an item from a fellow in the UK. It was an remote controlled module to connect to the fuse box to open up the exhaust valves. I don’t have the button. For some reason which neither of us know, the item did not work and I sent it back. I put everything back the way it was and called it a day. Naaah, I’m not pulling the fuse.
Well, UK customs is charging him an exorbitant VAT or customs fee plus an admin fee to get it back amounting to around 20%. I didn’t declare it as return merchandise - simply as an electronic module valued at $120 US. The vendor is telling me that if UK customs officials see anything coming in from the US, it is assessed a VAT. Seems unfair that he has to pay to get something back.
Anyway, is there anyone nearby that might try it out and want it for their car? For a small amount to mitigate his loss? He refunded me the full amount.
