Default Upcoming Road Trip

I have a wedding to attend this July. My son and I will be taking a road trip from Dallas to Philadelphia area. We'll be gone for a total of 10 days...

Will the 2 of us be able to take clothes, (small wedding gift) and whatever we need for 10 days in a cross country trip in the F-Type? If it were just me, I'd do it in a heartbeat, but with my 17 year old coming along, I might take his WRX...

Thoughts? Opinions?

Oh, we WILL be stopping for a day in Robbinsville, NC at Tail of the Dragon no matter which car we take!

(I figure besides attire for the wedding, all I we need is a few pair of socks and underwear... a GoPro or two, and an ATM and Credit card... What else do 2 guys need on a 10 day trip?)

I would say yes in the coupe, since you get a pretty decent amount of cargo space and should probably be able to fit a couple medium sized bags. In my cabrio I wouldn't even consider it unless it was just me. I'll be lucky if I can fit two carryon bags in there.

It was a quandary to us as well, so we took some bags and tested the trunk space at the dealer. (See photo.) We hope to use our F-Type Coupe as a Grand Touring car when we get it, and I'm pretty sure we'll be able to do that. We were able to get all those bags in there, but had to remove the boot cover to do it. There was still room in the fender wells and in the cubby below the boot floor for smaller things like shoes or squashables. When we tour we'll probably take a towel to cover the boot items.

We are currently on a 8 day road trip. Put on 2000km and passed the break-in point of 3000km. Wife is using a medium size suitcase and I have a smaller size carryon. Both were chosen as they just fit in. Room in the sides and under the floor for smaller items.

I ordered the spare tire. Lost a lot of the room.

Before I bought the car I brought my wife to the dealer, he showed her the boot on the convertible next to the coupe (without the spare), wife said "You have to buy the coupe" (so I did!), she was mad that she didn't know about the tire.

Jaguar has a nice $500 set of fitted luggage but I think it was designed for no spair tire.

Flat soft suit/dress carrier fits nicely on top lying flat. Removing the cover adds to the capacity considerably.

If you're worried about having enough room, pack a box with some spare clothes and ship it to Philly in advance. I know it's not conventional thinking, but wouldn't you prefer to pay a bit extra to make the road trip in the Jag?

I'd go naked the whole trip if I had to... The Jag is going!

I agree on ship ahead. I have luggage set for my conv. and you have to pack carefully for 4 days! Luggage fights great empty and not so easy packed to max.

We're thankful you got the coupe, not the convertible.

If I was taking a naked road trip, I'd keep the top up. Can't afford to get sunburn in all those places the sun never shines upon.

And also available here.

Jaguar F Type Luggage Set 5 Piece Black Red Part Number Jftlugset | eBay

I ordered from this seller at the beginning of May. Took 5 days to arrive in Colorado. Unfortunately I have been in Singapore and Beijing since then, so haven't seen the luggage yet, or the car - which I have driven a total of 130 miles since buying it

I'd say no problem at all in a coupé!...having just completed a Jaguar naked tour of France in our V8R Cabriolet.
Two of us, two up, luggage and extensive cleaning kit. It was a tight squeeze and we only managed to safely fit 4 bottles of wine in the boot to bring home!

The F-Type luggage kit is what we use. We have tried conventional soft wheelie bags used for holidays etc, and they are just not maleable enough to be 'moulded' into the small space in the cabriolet. They can be found on eGay at a reasonable price, but shipping to the states may be prohibitive.

Now to deal with the burn't bits!

It is a scissor jack. It fits nicely in the deep square well in the bottom of the trunk floor. There is an elastic strap in there to hold it in place. The air pump fits in the middle of the jack as well.

I am not that old - haven't started messing my pants yet. Probably will go with the disposable nappies when that time comes.

we should try to do an f-type meetup when you're in Philly if you have the time. I think there are quite a few forum members from the area.
