Removal of the rear section is definitely easier, but the bottom spot welds are not the only thing holding the tips on. They are welded all around in multiple places - Way over engineered, but if you’re not afraid to break a few eggs, it can be done and done well. I spent the time to file everything down and painted all the visible areas in ceramic gloss black so that it looks good even when the sun hits it and you can see behind the heat shield and valence or when looking straight into the tips. I would also recommend taking measurements of spacing and tip distance if you want the new ones to be in the same position as factory, I love custom stuff, but I like doing it so that it looks like it could have came that way - I’ve seen a lot of hack jobs especially with exhaust tips. Even when I cut, I made sure the same cuts were made on all pieces and that they were straight - little things make all the difference. The new ones are also slightly larger diameter and seem to “fill out” the opening s better without looking cartoonish.

Only if you’re trying to make it take a long time. The chrome tips were cut with a heavy duty reciprocating saw and then used a slightly more fine blade to get the tubing cut straight.

Viezu fighter jet tips
So… in searching I did not find much about these exhaust tips and DIY so here you go.
I started by removing rear diffuser and pulling out entire muffler.
diffuser is like 6 or so T30 bolts
Muffler is 6 hanger nut/bolt and 2 clamps
I did not take any more pictures until i had peeled away factory chrome tips using a 4” grinder. One dime sized weld towards rear and 3 spot welds near tip, these welds attach to resonator baffles. Inners have fiber glass packing and outer do not. Which looks like this….
I went pretty ham knowing these were not to remain. But this shows the bends shops above complain about on the inner pipes. Leaves not much to work with.
One thing you’ll need to keep in mind is each side has two different size pipes. Outer 2 1/2” and Inner 2”
I made some cuts to remove the resonator baffles in the two following locations.
After cutting with a Sawzall did an extenstive amount of grinding to clean up burs and welds on inner pipes. Then fabbed in a cheap 2 1/2”- 2 1/4” reducer on outer pipe. This is because the Viezu fighter jet “afterburner” tips are designed for 2 1/4” and smaller. No other reason.
i offset it back from inner pipe by 1” to match factory staggered look.
Slapped some clamps on the reducers and painted everything black for mock up. (Welding reducers on later assuming everything works out.)
Then mounted muffler assembly back into car and mocked up tips. And got everything lined up nice. Bolted it all back together and ended up with this…
Hope this helps others.
