Vanity plates
#101
Anyone in California order the black and yellow Lagacy Plates and received them? I placed my order back in May and haven't received a letter or notice that that have arrived at the DMV. However I know that they have processed it because my plate number sequence is no longer available when I try to input it again on the DMV Website
Oddly, it was shipped directly to my house. The form indicated that it would be shipped to my local DMV office, where I could pick it up. I even had to enter the local DMV address on the form.
Edit - I did pre-order last year when they first began taking pre-orders. I believe I ordered in October.

The downside of personalized plates:
If you're driving like a complete ***, you'll be easier to remember. I saw quite recently a white F-Type convertible with a vanity plate, and the driver was bad, and not in a "good to be" kind of way. Changing three lanes at once without signaling, with someone in that third lane having to brake to avoid being hit? I was aggressively unimpressed.

I got my legacy plates a few weeks ago. The order process is long for personalized vs sequential plates. The legacy plates finally went into production in June. The confirmation letter you receive from the DMV states 8 – 12 weeks for personalized plates. Mine took 11 weeks and cost $50. A slow process but worth it and the plates are very nice. The only difficulty is picking 3 choices and getting the one you want because almost every combination is already taken. I did not receive my first choice but I am happy.
Warning: These plates draw more attention than the car itself until the newness wears off!
Posted this photo in another thread but here is my plate.

I was able to get a direct number to the division in charge of the legacy plates. They checked mine, and I should get the letter for pickup by the end of the month at the latest. Apparently they are in so much demand. I'm passing my 12th week.

Picked up my new F-Type about 6 weeks ago, needed plates from the dealer for it, so I got online to the Michigan SOS site, JAGUAR of course taken, but I found something close that it showed was available. Told the dealer what I wanted, he laughed, typed it in and said it was accepted and gave me a printout of my new registration.
However, about a week later, here is the letter I got.
Who woulda thought that they wouldn't go for it?
I decided not to ask for reconsideration by explaining what it meant. Instead I chose something else...

Nothing irritates me more than gold-digging women, especially ones who openly gloat about it. I would have sooner driven it into a wall than have an ex-wife own anything of mine.

There might be more to that story. She might be a gold-digger. Maybe he was a cheating *******. Maybe they deserved each other.

I have a number of vanity plates. F-TIPE on the F-Type, MANNU on my Boss 302LS for Manchester United (a real football team), and ABIMMER on my X4. Per Florida DMV, you can have the year of title of the car license plates, if approved; I have 1965 Florida license plates on my 1965 Superformance Mark III Shelby Cobra.
