Did you get a tune also? If not, you will need to, as that Crank pulley is going to overspin your SC and freak out your ECU. You can change the SC pulley without a tune....but not a Crank pulley. Just FYI. You will see what I mean at about 4K RPM with bigger crank and no tune

For those that have ordered tunes lately what’s the turn around? I installed the pulley last Friday and am waiting on the tune to arrive.

I also installed VelocityAP Springs and 15mm spacers, looks right now!

Car looks great. I just got mine today, I sent it on the 2nd. They're likely swamped because of the sale. Unfortunately, I can't run the tune yet because my cats/o2 sensors crapped out on me JUST BEFORE VACATION😠😡🤬😤..... So give it a little time.

I'm waiting on my tune also, uploaded Monday, had the pulley and downpipes installed and the car is sitting at the shop outside .. Hoping today really don't want it sitting outside anymore.

If your parts are installed, you can pick it up and bring it home to do the tune. Just don't over-rev your engine on the way home and you will have no issues. If you do get a CEL, it will just be the CAT efficiency error and it will be cleared after the tune. Just FYI.

Guys what exactly do you do when you receive your device? I ordered cat, crank pulley and tune, planning to do tune only for now.

Already downloaded mygenius client, do you need an account or activate it? I also updated it to the latest version.

I went ahead and plugged it into my car, selected work, reading, and followed the instruction. It keeps on looping though, after 3 times I just unplugged it, the gauge cluster screen were acting funny, flickering, and it somehow resetted my trip computer, nothing else seems to be affected.

On the mygenius client, it says my status is not available for download and upload? or am I supposed to go in to file/get log files/export the readings?

Emailed chris yesterday but they are probably very busy or don't work on weekends.

The flickering gauges are to be expected. If you have successfully loaded your OEM tune onto the handheld device, you should be able to upload it to your computer and then email it back to Chris (tuning@velocityap.com). He'll be able to tell you if the OEM file was properly captured so that he can modify it.

Thanks, I received a pdf instruction from chris, which was somehow not included in the shipment, or I might have missed it. It's quite scary to read though, I should check my battery voltage for my next attempt...

A 30-50 amp power source is recommended, but a 6 amp battery charger has worked numerous times for me.

My shop has this:

Jump-N-Carry KKC660 12 Volt Jump Starter, 1700 Peak Amp

• 1700 Peak Amps
• 425 Cranking Amps
• Clore PROFORMER battery technology
• 46" #2 AWG welding cable leads
• Industrial-grade clamps
• Built-in charger
• Automatic charging
• Voltmeter provides charge status of onboard battery
• 12VDC outlet to power accessories
• 1 year limited warranty

I think that should be more than sufficient.

Or I can hook up with another car running with jumper cables.

Better than nothing, but I don’t see specs for Amp-hours (Ah) or charging current. I don’t recall that reading or writing the tunes takes very long - I used a 15A charger.

Same here, I used a 15A charger/conditioner and had zero problems the four times I have run the VAP hand held so far.
But I didn't just connect the charger and start work, I let it run right through it's 8 steps until it gets to the last "maintain" step and then and only then do I connect the VAP tool.

The first half dozen or so times I reflashed I didn't connect anything to support the battery voltage. The battery was sufficient. In retrospect, I should have connected a charger for safety, as I do have a few, but I had no issues.

EDIT: Having flashed the ECU on Subarus many times I didn't think it would be necessary, but I have heard that the flashing procedure on these cars uses considerable power.

I got done of it today, didnt have time to borrow the jumper so just took the chance, my battery should be healthy as i drive at least 20 highway miles a day, 7days a week.

reading process did take quite long, 25minutes i think, at least 10 times of ignition on and off cycle.

Im glad the first time I did it I didn't brick my ecu, i pulled it out after 3 cycles thinking i was stuck in some bugged cycle, i didn't have the instruction and i think my mygenius client also wasn't updated enough, I updated it like 7times today, amazing how old this client looks and works haha.

Does every read and write process take this long? what exactly is it reading, past driving parameters? why can't you do it with engine on????
