thanks, was my error. i did not realize the MOD file had the original file in it too - once i figured that out was easy.
question though: Jag is doing a major firmware update on my car. after that does veolicty have to make me another tune of the new stock car with new firmware ?

Mine was updated once. After the service I went to flash the tune back and the device said "nope." I downloaded the new factory file and sent it to VAP. I promptly got an updated tune file that had a set of extra options. Each of my original tuned files had two versions afterwards, disable ECO Start/Stop or not.
It's critical for the ECU to have the stock file back before the dealer updates, and also critical for the tuner to have last restored the stock file. I believe the handheld tuner will refuse an update from a PC and also refuse to flash a tuned file if the last flash was a tuned file. They need to make sure that a handheld tuner can only have tuned a single vehicle at any given time.

Tune in md
I am pleased to report after a few weeks of running the VAP V6 tune, that the VAP V6 tune even with the stage II (+18mm vs +10mm) lower pulley will comply with the parameters monitored by state emissions inspections (at least in 49 states). My local tuner also commented very positively on the smooth delivery of power under aggressive throttle throughout the engine speed range when he took it out for a test drive today, a quality that many tunes can't deliver if they result in significant power gains. He also proclaimed that he would recommend the VAP tune to anyone else that approached him with the 3 .0 Jag engine. High praise indeed since I have listened to him for over 10 years proclaiming how bad or fraudulent 95+% of the tuners are.
Thank you Stuart and Chris.

BTW, you have a great wrap specialist in Ellicott City. If you need a protective wrap or any bits wrapped, look up Rob at Proform Auto.
If you are available on June 9, you might want to consider driving up to the Hellerstown, PA British Car Show. A few of the forum members will be attending. I could meet you in E.C. on the way up.

As in, how would the regular owner know?
If you have a scan tool, most can read the calibration number, but would still need to know the previous calibration number to compare.
If you have one of our VTech tools, our tool will inform you if the software calibration has changed from what is stored as original on the VTech device. (Original Stored in VTech= XXXX-12345-AAA, Present Version in ECU: XXXX-12345-AAB)
Without access to some sort of tool capable (scan tool or VTech), ...you would be SOL.
FYI, I wouldn't rely to much on a dealers word. I get ambushed at times for file updates due to dealer visits..yet all the dealer did was change the oil and reset the service reminder..no updated done/required, yet adviser and invoice state one had been performed to PCM. The main issue is the claim was probably still open and ecu had been updated for a previous issue before the TSB was released. Dealer still needs to claim work was done to close TSB on VIN.

I think I’m going to give this a go - start with tune only, then look into the sc pulley
im familiar with the alientech tablet vap are using, have one for my m3 via openflash
but before I do, can someone confirm the map downloaded is your actual oe map and not a generic map, so if wanting to go back to stock for whatever reason, the car will behave exactly as oe prior to flashing

The last update I got was due to a service update, so I needed the tune applied to a new file. What I got back included the two I'd originally asked for, for 91AKI and 96AKI, plus Eco-disabled versions of them too. I didn't ask for that, but he said there were open slots so he put in one of the most commonly requested tune modifications as a bonus.
I'm used to Eco start/stop now (turn it off by habit on startup, and enable when it makes sense) so haven't loaded either of those tunes, but they do have that as an option now.

My question was more general though i.e. are there ever any updates where VAP has refined the tune in general for our cars.

Hello, Gents. Collecting a little data here. I understand the Velocity AP crank pulley adds 3 psi of boost to the engine, where the supercharger pulley (w/stock crank pulley) adds 1.5 psi. Does anyone know the baseline boost on a 2016 F type R? I assume since it's supercharged that it ramps up (unlike a turbo with a wastegate). Does anyone have a boost curve (corresponding to RPM) for lack of a better term?
thanks
thanks

I have it for the V6S rather than the R: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/f...6/#post1345316
I suspect the boost is similar, topping out at 14.5 psi stock. Upper and lower pulleys on the 6 take it to 20 psi.
