Would it be possible for VelocityAP to provide just straight downpipes, without catalysts? Also, will there have to be another ECU map compared to the one VelocityAP has developed for the 200-cell cats? Any other non-sound related things to consider? Will the power and torque figures be the same or different compared to the 200-cell cats?
Thanks,
The tuning would not need to be changed. From what we have been able to see, I would not expect more power or any meaningful amount more than with 200 cells.
We used to offer catless downpipes but they were very unpopular, and probably IRO 8/10 people who purchased them then ended up buying the catted versions because they didn't like the sound of the catless.
Compared with your valved exhaust with valves open and 200 cell cats, how would you describe the difference in sound with the catless downpipes installed instead?
We have now completed our move into our new Canadian location and have been busy fabricating away. We completed our 200 Cell Sport Catalysts for the F-Type recently, and are looking for a customer to step up and test fit them for us. Priced at $1295USD per pair, but the first set for a willing test-fitter will be just $650!!!!
The correct sealing ring on the union to the center section of the exhaust - this ring is critical to ensure a good seal in the deformable clamp and prevent exhaust leaks:
Correctly Machined 304-Grade Laser Cut Flanges with recessed faces to allow use of the correct JLR Exhaust Manifold to Cat-Pipe Stud:
Continuous Mandrel Bent 304-Grade Stainless Steel tube. Less welds = better airflow, more HP and better structural integrity:
Manufactured entirely from aeronautical 304 grade austenitic stainless steel. The ultimate Jaguar F-Type 200 Cell Sport Cats from Velocity Automotive Performance! High flow Motorsport-grade Sport Catalysts & Downpipes for V6 & V8 Models, S, R, and R AWD. In addition to giving the exhaust note an aggressive edge, these catalysts replace the cumbersome OEM catalyst units which contain a 600 cell secondary ceramic catalyst, with a free flowing 304 grade downpipe and sport Cat. None of the resonance issues associated with gutting the OEM catalysts.
Backed by our 25-year guarantee against corrosion and workmanship.
Resonance free!
REAL WORLD Consistent Gains of HP and Torque
Retains Ridge in Pipe for Sealing to Center Section
304 Grade Mandrel Bent Stainless Tubing
Continuous Mandrel Bend Stainless Piece (less welds = less internal restriction & turbulence)
Correct Factory compatible flange allowing OEM Exhaust Manifold Stud to be used

Here is a comparison video between a stock V8R and mine with the VAP 200-cell cats plus VAP valved exhaust. Video quality is bad, but the comparison is better than nothing at least. @Stuart@VelocityAP you are welcome to use this clip for demonstration if you wish.

no doubt - I thought maybe when I turned 40, I would leave childish things behind (like making noise), but its not happening, love the sound.I will likely leave the stock cats for now, but if one fails or I ever catch myself the enviable position of simply having too much money (will never happen of course) I might do the 200 cell cats.they look great too, shame you only get to see them if the car is on a lift.
Considering a set of 200 cell cats for my V6S, only because the my amber engine check light came on and fear the originals have failed, especially as the exhaust note has changed in recent months, sounds more hollow.
How are folk finding the 200 cells? I already find the V6S too raspy at times, prefer the deeper noise it makes when warm and at low revs under load. A lot of people comment it's the same noise but louder (that's fine), others say it's more raspy. I'd be keeping the OEM silencer.
Other question is can the emissions code be coded out without the need for a full remap?

1. Get an inexpensive code reader or borrow one for free from your local auto parts shop to determine what’s really wrong.
2. in my opinion, the V6 is not well suited to the 200 cell cats. Far too raspy and destroys the resonant note of the V6.
3. if the catalyst has truly failed, it could be restricting full flow through the exhaust system, thus reducing power.

Thanks for the response, I'd made my mind up to stick with OEM after reading this and doing a little more research. Thankfully it's turned out to only be an intermittent issue with an O2 sensor.
