VelocityAP Performance Intake Kit F-Type V6 3.0 & V8 5.0
Hello Everyone,
Apologies for the lack of participation on here recently. We've just been super busy and growing rapidly and I haven't had as much time to participate.
I know this is something many people have been wanting for a while. There are some very nice carbon options on the market, but quite pricey and not as much SC noise as a lot of people would like. We recently had the opportunity to spend a couple of weeks with a V6 FType in the shop and design something that we think will fit the bill for most people who are interested - checking off a few boxes from functionality, power & sound. This initial prototype was produced in Stainless, purely because we have a lot more bits & pieces in stock to work with when designing and it speeds up the process. Our production parts should be done in aluminum.
One of our goals with the system was to also produce it in a diameter that will work with the V8 vehicles as well, using a couple of different couplers, but we also need to confirm MAF tube diameter, and will need to test fit the kit on a V8 to sign off. The kit encompasses not just the intake plenum but all the tubing & couplers right down to the MAF sensor, as well as a clamp on cone filter with an airbox delete. We've pushed the filter location up high, to keep concerns about water ingress minimized. This combination maximizes both Supercharger noise as well as induction noise, deletes some unnecessary weight from the front end, and should produce some additional power. We didn't have the time to get this car to the dyno, but based on some work we have done with similar kits for the Aston Martins, we expect to gain around 15BHP on the V8, and around 11-12 BHP on the V6.

You will notice in the last pictures the reducer couplers going into the MAF sensor. We designed this in larger diameter to accommodate a bigger MAF sensor on the V8 cars, so it should fit both, just with a straight coupler on the V8 instead of the reducer.

A little video to show you the added noise. Chris tested the car stock, on the same road and ran a best of 6.02 seconds 0-60 with the Dragy App. 4.53 seconds is pretty good on a non-prepped road on a cold day. This is a Base, so no AWD and no LSD.

Based on other kits/attempts, intake on F-type is completely non-restrictive and I expect the gains on stock car to be around 0 (ZERO) BHP on both V6 and V8.

The intake tubing we don't believe will increase HP on its own, on a stock car, but produces the supercharger whine that many are looking for which was one of the primary objectives of this kit, and when we start looking at the modified V8 SC at 650BHP, the intake itself may well become a bottleneck. We simply didn't have the time for a dyno in this instance but we've got a track record of giving clear documentation where ever we can. Remember when we built headers and then told you all that they didn't produce any gains?

Stuart, does the nose need to come off to install, or does it just need the pans and the wheel well covers removed? Any thoughts regarding a group buy to launch production?

Lower pulley and tune.
Upper pulley is a waste of time on the V6, it's already almost as small as you can go.

Sweet SC whine! (but is it loud enough to overcome the VAP exhaust sound level? )

Wheels and liners are a must..the pans would be your choice for ease to remove liners..would be like taking out a stock airbox on box sides.

No tune required for this intake, same MAF Tube's are being re-used from stock system..this no tuning requirements (Bolt off stock - Bolt on VAP kit..no hacking or cutting and can easily be reverted stock if desired)

Just one small correction, it is a V6-S, not a base, so it does have an LSD
Also, VAP did the following on my car:
- Intake
- 200 Cell Downpipes
- Lower SC pulley
- Tune
I am extremely pleased with VAP and these mods! Turned the car from being great, to being Epic!
You can definitely hear more SC whine, especially in higher RPM. It is not so noticeable as to be overwhelming, but you will notice it more than stock for sure.
I had the intake gold foil wrapped (it's REALLY pretty), and I would imagine with aluminum, and without the wrap, it would probably be even louder.
I expected about 15-20% more power than stock, and butt dyno seems to confirm this. I am very pleased with the power level!
If anyone is in the Seattle area and wants to check it out, I am happy to show it off. Just PM me.

Main idea from this project though was to 1."increase sc wine" 2."keep in mind ease of install" 3."if possible gain back BHP" 4."save weight anywhere" 5. "better the MPG more if we can" 6."no tuning required kit"
