Default Very frustrating rattle

Currently chasing down a rattle, MY2016 R Coupe. It seems to be coming from underneath the rear parcel shelf. I can remove the panel in between the little cubby and the center console very easily (probably too easily) but nothing in there seems to be the culprit. Is there any way for me to get under that panel without removing half the interior trim of the car? Are there any service bulletins about stuff rattling around back there?

If I could take this whole car apart, insulate every panel, and put it back together myself, I would.

Does the noise go away if you drive without the rear shelf in place? I had a frustrating rattle back there during all cornering. Turns out it was the rear shelf rubbing. I added this to the side edges of the shelf and the rattle is gone.

Unfortunately I do have the rear privacy shelf removed. What I'm referring to is the large flat area between the cabin and the boot, the piece that the little cubby is actually built into.

It's probably the flap that drops down to expose the additional storage area. Later models have a revised designed that eliminates that feature. Maybe a bit of foam to press against the "door" when it's closed?

Do you have a picture of what you're referring to? I can't tell from your description.

Sorry, no pic as my car doesn't have it. It's the upright bit between the seats behind the centre console.

Not sure my car has it either. The upright on mine is just a leather panel, albeit one that's very easy to pull off.

Super easy 2 minute job to loosen and move this piece. Using a trim tool remove the roughly triangular piece above the pins that the boot cargo cover pivot on. They both are release by pull horizontally directly to the middle of the car. From here on you only need your hands as no other tools needed. Then the shelf in question can simply be pushed directly forward from behind when in the boot space with a sharp jolt to release the panel clips .Search one of the earlier stereo threads on how to access the rear subwoofers and the pictures are there . Moving the rear shelf forward unfortunately will not give you enough room or access to chase a rattle so ultimately you will need to remove both carpeted areas containing the rear subwoofer speaker covers so you will also need to remove ventricle trim panel where this area is tucked behind each part of the rear aspect of the door opening, and to do this you need lift up the rear part of the bottom of the door trim to unlatch the verticle trim piece.
