Vmax tune vs. the world
Ok, maybe a bit dramatic, but you all will survive.
Well a number of weeks ago, I got in touch with Bill over at Vmax since I had always been really disappointed with the "tune" I had on my car. He swore up and down this would be different...so I bit the bullet...and told him I wouldn't hold back good or bad. So here goes:
2014 V8S RWD with a Eurocharge tune or whatever they did or did not do to my ECU.
Want the good news or bad news first? Just kidding, I don't care, I've giving the "bad" first.
Before Vmax
0-60mph runs on Drag Radials - both directions, minimal change in elevation
Car would dead hook and run 3.78 - 3.82 time after time. Occasionally a lower 3.7x and sometimes a 3.9x
After Vmax
0-60 runs on Drag Radials - both direction, minimal change in elevation.
Car ran identical times and honestly was harder to get a solid 3.8. But Jay, wtf happened?! Didn't James run a 3.2 or some **** like that?!
Yeah, I tried everything, 20psi cold, small burnout on the street - this ****er would not hook on the street. Even though I knew it wouldn't work, I tried to stall up the car and it'd leave - but you don't need to be a rocket surgeon to tell the car simply did not like it and was probably pulling ignition or something to **** with me. Yes, I knew that'd happen.
So, then I launched like I did at the track. Just enough throttle to load the drivetrain - around 1000rpm or so and then went WOT. I hazed the damn DR's through 1-3. I wish I had video - right to red line, car all over the place - super fun - but shitty 0-60.
Bottom line: Unless you have an AWD f-type, I really have no idea how you'll put this power down from a dig. Temps were about 47F and the road was cold...I'll revisit this and get some 0-60 times at a prepped track with NEW drag radials (these are 4yrs old :/)
************************
On to some fun stuff. I made a number of 65mph - 110mph pulls. Why not 60-130?! 1) NJ has limited real estate and 2) I'm not really about heading out at 2am and 3) I think 65-110 is more realistic range for most people. More on this in a second.
Before Vmax
This time with the OEM 20's on with Pilot Sport tires, same thing - runs in both directions, blah blah blah.
Very best runs were 5.72 and 5.71 seconds
After Vmax
I have probably 100 miles or so on the tune, so I guess through or almost through the "learning" phase and it's definitely gotten quicker.
After ~50 miles...
Best runs were 5.18 seconds
After ~100 miles
Best runs 5.09 seconds
****************
I'll tell ya what, picking up 6/10's is pretty damn wild. Best 1/4 BEFORE Vmax was 11.69. So pretty excited to get to the track, I think it'll go bottom 11's and then, hopefully the first ftype in the 10's with some more Vmax goodies. We should have some track days at Atco in February, assuming weather stays decent out here.
There ya have it - it's ridiculous...you win this round, Bill.

Bill, you win round 2 as well. The V6 has been totally transformed on the butt dyno (confirming what we saw on the Dynapack).

Nice! I'm glad Vmax has yet another happy customer. Philly, could you please share the fuel you ran at the track and during adaptation? 93 octane?
I really need to find an AWD drive dyno here in San Diego....and buy a Vbox. I used to borrow one from a friend, but now he's moved away. Perhaps I'll just have to lay out the cash.
Any help on finding a good AWD dyno down here would be appreciated.

We have a few VBox's we send out to dealers/customers for data acquisition. If you want one to play with just say the word, it will go out Monday.
Jay and Lance, thank you both for the informative threads and your forum contributions, it's a pleasure working with you and we look forward to a continuation of such relationships in the future.

Done, will send tracking Monday.
An email earlier today? Please resend if so. I didn't see anything, my apologies.
Thanks!

Only way I'll run 109 or anything like that is if the car runs an 11.0x and I need to try and shave off a few hundredths

Sure...I ran 92/93oct at both the track and now during the adaptation phase. And I plan on doing that when I get back to the track with this new tune as well.

MS109
Or some pre-throttle body water/methanol...that could be in another thread.

Text me and we can set something up. Tomorrow night would be better if possible. I'm cooking tonight for the wife.

Glad I could get a thread going for a race!? hahaa....
As for me, well, we're supposed to get about 16" of snow Friday - Sunday, soooooo.
On the plus side, I'm quite sure we'll be bottom 11's as it sits now on a sticky track.
