Default Wha? Two fastest cars around Big Willow are RWD?

911 GT2RS Weissach Edition is now the new champ for production car at 121.08 for fastest lap, just beating the McLaren 720 at 121.75, and both of which are faster than the 900 hp AWD Porsche 918. Quarter mile times in the low 10's...

Just saying....

Correct. AWD does not help cars turn better.

RWD doesn't seem to be hurting these two in the quarter mile either....

In a slightly different vein, I recall (way back when) that Audi got a higher top speed when they first put in AWD. Even their engineers were surprised, but the lower drag of powering all four tires overcame the added weight.

AWD is wonderful but lots of very fast cars are RWD. Aside from the ones mentioned, the Z06 and Viper come to mind. Don't assume that AWD is always faster, it's just one part of the equation.

That may be old news already. There may be a third RWD car to take the crown at Big Willow as of a few days ago...and its all American muscle!!! Let's see if this holds true when Motortrend's next publication arrives.

That is interesting news. Quite an improvement over the Z06's numbers. Is it just me or does it seem we are at a peak of OEM production car performance wars?

While on the subject, is anyone planning a track day at Willows any time soon? It's a little too hot right now but I am thinking of starting back up next month.

Not Willow but Chuckwalla Raceway for sure once it cools down. Have you been to Chuck? Solid track!

I have been to Chuck a few times and actually prefer it to Wilow. I'm hoping to that Newport Beach Jaguar hosts another track day this October as well.
