Default What is this for?

Above the console, at shoulder level, there's a piece of netting over hard plastic. Does this have any practical use? Seems useless for sunglasses or mail.

I have a 2016 and there isn't the netting and it appers the older models may have more storage in that area. Mine is just a somewhat shallow storage area. I keep a microfiber towel and a few other things in mine but again no netting.

I have yet to use that pocket. I wonder if there is any actual space back that they could have engineered better storage?

In 2017 and earlier models (US), that was a handy storage area. When they switched Infotainment systems, they moved much of the Infotainment equipment to that area and ditched the storage. They did the convertibles really dirty as that was where there is a handy, lockable storage area. It's one of the reasons I think my 2017 convertible is better than 2018 and on.

Yeah, our '14 'Vert has the compartment that holds two ha, pairs of gloves, and a plastic net to hold sunglasses.

OTOH, its surround has a LARGE area of the sticky coating...

I don't have a phone mount yet so I put my phone in there and run the usb cable down into the arm rest. The cable fits nicely through the back right beside the hinge and the arm rest closes without pinching the cable. Phone charges and I get Apple CarPlay.

Great ideas, particularly underwear and post-it notes.

True dat. In those original hairy v8 RWD cars it would always be good to have a readily available spare pair of underwear on-hand ;-0

The storage space went away there because that is where they put the IMC Infotainment Master Controller behind the parcel shelf. The netting is there so you have an easy place to collect mustang pink slips.

My son just purchased a new Mustang Darkhorse and I'm not so sure my P450 would allow me to collect his pink slip.
We are looking at attending a Test N Tune at Darlington to find an answer.
