What are these cut wires for ?
Hi All,
New to Jag, just bought myself a slightly used 2016 Jag Type R AWD with 6000kms on the clock....
So to the point... was looking around in the cockpit...(lol) for a spot to keep my sunglasses case and opened the center arm rest and boticed the space was too small, then between the seats there was a trim plate that I simply pulled on to reveal harnessing and cables....
To my horror, I see a pair of black cables that have been cut and left bare...
Taking the car back to the dealership to ensure this is sorted... the last thing I want is to loss my warranty for non disclosure and someone to assume I did this.
Please any advise on what these cables are for is highly appreciated.

As others have suggested, if those were vital wiring organs, I think you might have noticed some other symptoms by now.

My guess is that these wires were a part of some aftermarket electrical installation that was carelessly removed prior to vehicle sale.

The Reply from the sales rep from the dealership....
With regards to the sheered wires in the centre console, my head technician says that they would not have been cut unless they were not in use but they should have been cut right down. Would you like to bring the vehicle in anyway so that they can file a formal report on it for you?
Pray this is not a beginning of a Saga, but lets see how this plays out.....

It's pretty standard to do this. PVC tape is used for bundling virtually everywhere in these cars where the cables are fixed and not designed to move. Where they can move, contact trim panels (could rattle), or near connectors, fabric tape is typically used.
