Default What's this all about?

Today I received a letter from JLR announcing the “Jaguar Vehicle Enhancement Program.” It’s a no-charge program for 2016 and 2017 model years “designed to further enhance the driving and ownership experience of your vehicle through a series of updates that ensure your vehicle is equipped with the very latest software and features.”

This is all very vague, as are the examples given:
• “Infotainment software and/or hardware updates to improve system reliability”
• “Updated engine software with improved robustness enhancements [!?] and addressing possible ‘check engine' light illumination”
• “Electrical software updates to improve battery performance.”

The mailing included my VIN. My F-Type is a 2016 V6S.

I think the “check engine” light issue is Service Action K405, which is 1 of 3 already scheduled to be done during my upcoming 2-year service. But what about the others listed? I’ll probably call the dealership next week for some info, but in the meantime, does anyone know what these “enhancements” involve, and if possible, could you kindly post the Service Bulletins for them (the docs that JLR provides to the dealership service techs)? It would be useful to have these BEFORE talking to the service manager.

Thanks.

Coincidentally (maybe not), I no longer have to do a reboot of the battery control module every time I tap into the OBD port.

Had mine done last month. One of the items fixed was the scheduled maintenance indicator. Some 02 sensor issues also. Not sure if they were all under the enhancement software update.

WELL SIR... I used the OBD today, and now my disconnect is *not* resolving the battery issue, *&* I am getting a red blinking light on the dash that I don't believe I've ever seen. Any advice? I've disconnected once for about 5 seconds, once for about 4 minutes. HALP!!!

Edit: well, now just a flashing red light. Is that a security flash that I never noticed, or is something off like I suspect?

Disconnect for like a half an hour. And press the brake pedal right after you disconnect. Both of these things happen to my car each time i flash.

pretty sure I'm trippin', and it's just a "alarm armed" type flash.

Once every few seconds. Mellow. Not rushed, in any way.

I assume I just hadn't noticed?

I left it unlocked, and after 10-20 mins it finally shut completely down, no flashing light.

Have I really been that out to lunch to never notice a red flashing alarm light?

Jeez. TIL.

You are not the only one. I just went out into a dark garage and saw the (dim) flashing light for the first time in almost 2 years. By comparison, the flashing security alarm light on my '02 MINI lights up the night sky.

When servicing my F Type this year I was told that there were some "conquests" for which they would need the car all day and we had the same with the XE. The big one was to the infotainment. I'm not sure what was involved (in fact I have no idea what was involved) though I think there must have been some hardware changes as the footwell light was dangling out when we got it back.

The only things I noticed were that I had to re-pair the phone, the sat nav was in miles instead of km (which took me ages to figure out how to change back), and now the song details show up on the dash graphic as well as on the touchscreen, where the leaper used to be, and only disappear when the car is in manual mode. I also noticed that they smeared the inside windscreen with the filthiest rag known to man - seriously it looked like some homeless person had spat on it and then dried it with his underpants - but I expect that is unrelated to the "conquests".

Does "conquest" translate into "campaign" in Murican? Another one for our forum dictionary.

actually it might have been "campaign". It was an odd expression to use.

I'm disappointed we can't add "conquest" to our dictionary. Calling it a "conquest" certainly exudes more confidence in the outcome than a "service campaign".

I just received a letter today on this campaign. It was mentioned in an earlier flier I received. Is this a new round? Why wouldn't JLR send all of these at once?

Get it done. It'll probably solve your OBD port issue.
