Default Delivery update.

Just talked to my dealer this morning. My car was delivered at the port in Southern CA yesterday, 7/31, but I am not sure what west coast port it is at, San Diego, LA, Port Hueneme, etc? Earliest delivery to Denver is estimated to be 8/16, and to me a couple days later. If so, this will be just less than 90 days from order date to delivery date. I ordered the car on 5/22.

Here in the UK, I was told to expect 3 months between order an delivery, with the last change 1 month before the build started.

The Summer plant shut-down was at about the stated build date, so there was a 2-week jitter on the projected delivery date.

The dealership called me at the expected date to confirm that my car was being built and when it would be delivered. Only, it had just been delivered.

That's about how long it took mine to make the exact same trip (from Port Hueneme).

Deposit on 11/20/14, but unable to finalize order until specs were available (had to be a 2016 with 6-speed). I was originally expecting September delivery, mostly based on model year.
Order created 4/24/15. I was told it would probably be mid to late August delivery. That turned into 8/7, then 7/31. It showed up at the dealer on 7/28 and I took delivery on 7/30.

I figured it was on the Triton Leader, scheduled to arrive in Pt. Hueneme on 7/30, but it must have come on an earlier ship.

I ordered late April and picked it up mid July so a little over 2.5 months. My last change date was only a week after my order so I got lucky. Took under 2 months from order to hitting North American port in Halifax! That's where it got ugly.

Could have gotten it earlier if it wasn't for the idiots(CN) shipping it from Halifax. Took nearly 2 weeks from Halifax to Montreal(12 hour drive) and then sat in their yard for another 10 days before JLR started asking questions and they finally released it(22 days total!) to the truck company that brought it to the dealer.

Noticed a few posters whose cars were on later boats with deliveries to ports further down the route who got their cars before I did. Stressful experience during the one week delay from expected delivery date with the purchaser of my previous car breathing down my neck and the very real possibility he could have bailed.

The delivery date gets updated in the system as your car progresses through the build/delivery process so ask your sales rep for regular updates if it matters to you. Just keep in mind they're just approximations and, as some here can attest, things can go wrong.

One total week delay? HAHA, that's nothing!

Default Car has arrived.

My car arrived at the dealer this morning, August 8. Here are the relevant dates.

Car ordered: 5/22.
Last date to change order: 6/16.
Planned build date, week ending 7/10.
Actual build complete date: 7/4.
Planned dealer delivery date: 9/11.
Actual dealer delivery date: 8/8. (79 days from order date.)
Planned hand-over date: 9/16.
Actual hand-over date: 8/11, I hope.

I am more than surprized by the timing; I was last told (8/1) not to expect it before 8/17. I hope to pick it up early next week. I'm going to have to change my appointment for the Xpel installation.

You should wait at least 60 days from build date before applying the film as others on this forum correctly pointed out to me.

Here's the final result on this issue. I took delivery of my new Jaguar yesterday, August 11. From order to delivery it took 81 days. I'm pleased with that, and very pleased with the new car. More comments later on the car on another thread.

Default Website/Portal to track New Order Shipment?

I'm trying to find the link to the portal where you can track the progress of your car once you have an order number. I remember reading about it somewhere on a thread before I had ordered but can't seem to find it.

Could someone share it again for me?

Thx!

The common order number doesn't help much with tracking. All you can do is check with your dealer weekly to get updates on the "week ending" production date (it will be a Friday date indicating that it will be completed sometime that week) Around that time you can get the assigned VIN from your dealer. Then you can use the following post to track the shipment to the U.S. port: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/f...2/#post1227439 Then it goes off the radar screen until it shows up at your dealer.

Just adding my times... I started talking to them in March. Deposit down in April. Order in early June. Tweaked order a few times for build issues... finalized order:

June 16th.

Scheduled arrival originally October 10th.
Then September 7th.

Actual arrival:

August 12th.

Less than two months. That's wild.

But I waited since December or whenever the manual was announced.
