Default Wheel color question.

I think I may have lost my mind. I bought a 2015 R two days ago and I'm thinking about redoing the factory wheels next week. There is some very light curb rash but I know a very good powder coater. In the classic "while you're at it" i may have them changed from silver to black. My car has the black trim package so I think it would look tidy. This picture is off this forum. Can anyone tell me if the black wheels on this car were a factory option? Thanks.

Gyrodyne only come silver painted or diamond cut/turned (machined) from the factory. Those pictured were powder coated/painted gloss black

Gloss black w/ clearcoat. Powdercoated. Cost me $450 and I love the look. Much nicer than the factory silver on a red car - ESPECIALLY with the black pack trim. A no brainer, but a pain in the ***.

Raise/store car, remove wheels/tires, take wheels in, a week normally, take powdercoated wheels back to tire shop to have tires remounted, then re-install the wheels back on the car.

If doing most of the leg work yourself you will need a low profile race jack, four 2-3 ton jack stands w/ pads, torque wrench; 92ft lbs with a torque wrench. While you are at it, add the 17mm Motorsport spacers. A small electric Dewalt grinder to grind the EOM bolt rounded edges to the point that the M disappears and they are flat.

Also - don't forget black lugs. Gorillas are available in the elusive 19mm mag type.

Other than that, enjoy the buffet, and a much nicer looking ride.

My advice would be to not do black but instead a metallic dark gray. You will see the wheels better and be a little different from everyone else.
