Anybody else with spacers experience clicking sound when their wheels are fully turned either way (sound comes from front wheels only)?

Just for info, I've installed 17mm motorsport tech spacers on blade wheels. Had them for about 3 years now but recently only discovered this sound as it's not audible when windows are up. But sound is quite clear for people standing outside. Dealer though it was bad wheel bearing, switched it out mande no difference. They however realised sound was gone when spacers are removed. Here's a photo the spacer.

 

Does it click with the wheel removed and on both sides?

 

This is a common problem on factory ZR1s.

 

Our F doesn't have spacers, so no issues here.

I always coat the mating surfaces of the wheel & hub with anti seize. I feel that this provides the same benefit as Thermal Grease does with heat sinks on power transistors.

The side benefit here (aside from corrosion resistance on winter-driven Daily Drivers) is that it wouldn't allow noise as the wheel flexed or shifted.

In the OP's case I would apply the anti seize on on both sides of the spacer. (Just a thin 'schmear') Also, re-torque both wheel and spacer nuts after a week's worth of driving.

 

When the wheels were removed the steering was not turned, so there wasn't any noise in that situation.

What anti seize do you guys normally use for this? Copper / lithium / aluminium grease? I've tried applying lithium grease between the hub and spacers, this solved the noise for only a bit before it came back.
All lugs on both spacers and wheels have been torqued to 92 ft-lbs.

Does my lugs on the photo attached appears to be similar to the one you guys have from motorsport tech? These lug nuts have been procured elsewhere as the lug nuts that came from Lenny (motorsport tech) are of the wrong thread size and he would not reply my email when this was brought up.

 

Ahh...clicking only occurs when the spacers are on and the steering turned full left or right?
Your tires are most likely rubbing on some inner fender surface, perhaps the plastic fender liner.

 

Lithium grease will not hold up to brake heat. I usually use the silver anti-seize.

 

Yeah I was wondering if it might be this. Do you experience the same sound when the wheels are fully turned as well? I understand you're running wheel spacers and lowering springs as well.

 

When I was running spacers it was with 255 tires and 15mm spacers on H&R springs. I did not have an issue, but the 17 mm spacers might be enough to catch the occasional tire tread that could cause the clicking. I am now using custom offset wheels Specifically dimensioned to avoid any possibility of rubbing with 265 tires.
