Decided to keep the Gyrodynes and got them powdercoated gloss black. Powdercoat was super cheap. Found a place locally to me that did them for $65 a wheel with a 3 day turn around! Went through a Porsche forum and picked up a set of lightly used Michelin Pilot Super Sports for $300.
Wheels turned out MUCH better than I expected. The Michelins are a significant upgrade from the Pirelli PZeros.
This is awesome! I'm right in the middle of deciding whether to order Tornado or Cyclone wheels, or to just get the Gyrodynes powder coated. Thanks for posting these pics!
Night and day...I personally never liked the silver wheel color on these cars. When I built my car on the simulator, as soon as I clicked on the black wheels, it woke the car up big time!
Impressive transformation...just the chrome bits to wrap black and it will look the dogs!
What's your initial impression of the Mich's?
Wow...blast from the past! I've long since got rid of the 2015 F-TYPE in the photos above and have gotten into a 2016 with the exterior black pack! I kept the rims and had my vinyl guy wrap the mirrors black as well.
This is how my current 2016 sits now:
Michelin's were a nice upgrade. I was not impressed with the PZero.
I guess I should have started a new thread to ask if $450 or so is fair, whether to go satin or gloss, etc.
The OP posted those pics 15 months ago.
I'd go with the gloss. The amount of brake dust these cars kick up, my gloss black wheels look matte after 3 days of driving. $450 isn't that bad but I'd see if you can get it down to $400.
