This morning I found this piece of rubber trim sitting deep in the trunk, anyone knows where this comes from?

Looks like the bit that is on the inside end of the hatch cover. Mine has come off once or twice, it slots back on easy.

It is. It can come off easily if the front end of that privacy panel comes in contact with anything stored in the boot when the hatch is opened.

We need a sticky for this question, it comes up at least once every six months!
And it looks to me that the big white storage tub was the culprit this time.
