Default Who has tried to use the online configurator recently?

I remember when I built my car in 2015, the system was awful, and a huge disconnect between the exterior facing consumer configurator on the website, vs the internal facing sales agent configurator....

... and in 3 years little has changed! I get that some "packs" will delete some single options one has chosen, but it's REALLY weird during the build process that it is all easily negated when you get to the final page, where you can choose individual options like wheels not listed on the configurator (like the 5 spoke gloss finish Cyclones), that when you choose the single option, does not override the original selection. So if I choose the tires I want on the last page of configuring options by selecting little "bubbles", it actually will list that I have 8 tires, instead of 4. Or if I pick personalized illuminated sill / tread plates, it doesn't negate the "jaguar illuminated" plates, so I have 4 illuminated sill plates. LOL

Also don't appreciate how some options became standard, and some standard stuff became options, etc. So odd. And annoying.... especially as my performance seats in tan went away, and now there's sports seats in a diff color, so my tan top and tan seats in camel don't exist anymore?? Or are they hidden under a different options menu? And how do I know what styling or body changes have happened? Has someone tracked that? I know they added side skirts out of nowhere, and not sure if that was an option or standard, as I don't want 'em.

For those who built their car and ordered direct.... what was the easiest way to make sure you built and got everything you wanted? I remember vetting my final purchase order prior to submitting, and my interior seats changed color, and I had a regular steering wheel vs the flat bottom. So odd how it all conflicts, confuses. I just want to make this as simple as possible. I guess it's just go in and sit with a sales guy instead of go through this gimmicky build out system that is likely re-done once planning to order?

Best thing is [ I didn't do it as I just didn't know..] : go to the dealer and get the brochures. The price/options list has a list of whats in the car and whats optional, including prices !
So if you want something, the brochures says if its part of a package or not... Most of the times a package is like ".. get 4, pay 3.." , but if you only want 2-out-of-four....

On the other hand, when times comes to sell, a dealer will simply check the packages you have fitted and list those, most don't bother with individual options...

Good hunting... [ PS : sometimes you can download the brochure as a pdf from the national website].

Back when I submitted the order at the beginning of 2015, the only way to know for certain was to sit with the dealer and fill out the order sheet, That gets submitted to JLR, and they come back with the order conflicts and you have some hard choices to make.

That is the second stage... .. you should first READ and find out what's available : the open circles in the list and the open triangles, indicating its an option or part of a package..

THEN you go to the dealer and do the paperwork..

Actually... looks like they updated it. You go through the normal build out, and then they have a BUNCH of options and accessories on the summary page.
My buy back sounds like it's a breezy, easy, simple, delightful process and I am so excited. I heard a number from my "specialist" who is handling it that MUST be wrong, but she said something like 75% of cars are bought back?

That must be wrong, or people would be talking buy backs around here, all the time. But it's true, as much of a community that FT owners are, it's even a smaller and tighter community of those owner's who choose to be active on a forum. We are surely a select crew, and there's a large amount of owner's who never even think to come here. But that buyback stat sounds wildly high, and I will ask her about it again.

Anyhoo.... very very excited. They got rid of my camel sports seats, so I have to get a tan/brogue performance seat. Cry me a river. LOL

I think she said 75% of all buy-back applications are granted. If they had to by back 75% of the cars, they would have left the USA a lóóóng time ago..

That makes far more sense.

NICE. I wasn't about to argue with myself about how stupid my hearing is. =) Thanks.
