[/font][font]El sobreviraje es un rasgo primario del Jaguar, aunque mucho mejor que el primer lote. [/font][font]El Jag compite más con Aton IMO y es mejor objetivamente en todas las formas cuantificables. [/font][font]No está hecho a mano, por lo que un Seiko (un buen Gran) supera a un Rolex ... [/font][font]PERO, la cosa revuelve sin fin y puedo controlarla MUCHO mejor, especialmente dada la diferencia de peso de 1K libra. [/font][font]El Jag simplemente no era divertido en carreteras secundarias con el par de torsión 5.0 soplado y el sobreviraje incontrolable, una vez más, mejoró mucho las nuevas irregularidades y especialmente el AWD. I am a happy owner of R 2014 but my desire to know Porsche makes me consider the change to a 718 S. I know that the sound will make me cry, a lot, but all that technology focused on enjoyment I have to try it. I'm 39 years old, I don't go to the circuit but I do go to the mountains every weekend. I really enjoy the glorious V8 although many times he wants to kill me. There is no doubt that so much weight is not going well between 2nd and 3rd curves ... That's why I think of 718 S. I only do a trip with the R, it is 100% car to enjoy so your GT touch is not so necessary ... Will I regret the 718? I would not hesitate to reprogram it to get 400 cvs and a push similar to 550 Jag.

By manufacturer spec a 2020 718 has 300HP/280TQ stock, so acceleration (F=MA or A=F/M) is 280/3050 compared to an 2020 R with 550HP/502TQ or 502/3814. So the Jag has 1.43x the 718's acceleration. You could tune both.

The 718 S has 350 hp, tune is 400 for the real 1,420 kg of the Cayman compared to the 1,780 that my R weighed without gasoline. Take the bills and together with the gearbox you will see that little Porsche is not far away. The way to deliver them and the sound will never be comparable

My last 2 toy cars have been Porsche. The first a 996 twin turbo 911 and the last one a 997 S. I loved both cars and was going to get another but the Jaguar was on my list of potentials. I haven't put many miles on the R but I do love the sound of the V8 and the feel of the car. It sure isn't a Porsche but again not sure that is a bad thing.

after having my custom 2017 Jaguar F-Type R convertible for 3 years, and 3 engines (plus a multitude of other issues) over a period of 16k miles (odometer ended with 18k miles and some change), i decided it's time to call this car a "wash" and keep driving my 2017 911 Turbo S Cabriolet. The Jaguar was a fun car, but the problems i had were horrible. they started around 2k miles and went from there, pretty regularly - 3 engines, 2 water pumps, front axle, steering column, and a few other electrical issues. i owned it from mile 1 and never drove it excessively hard or raced it. it was always kept in perfect mechanical order when it wasn't broken down. lol
has anyone else had anything like this experience happen to them?

strict laws on lemon law
it was covered every time under the factory warranty, but it was in the shop more than i drove it. the last repair was the third engine replacement, and i just said enough already. they replaced it and i unloaded it for 2k more than market price, as it had so many custom options and upgrades. i hate to say it, but let the next owner be frustrated with it. who knows, maybe it'll never have another issue. i kept telling myself that after every repair though. lol
i tried to get it under the lemon law, but each failure was caused by a different issue. the first failure was the water pump and main bearing before i even had it past the break-in period. the first engine failed due to the engine oil level sensor failing and always causing it to report "OK" levels when it was actually low. they reported that the second engine was due to faulty valves. the third engine failure was un-known - SMH!
all in all, i wouldn't buy another one. my 911 turbo-s cabriolet is much more fun. the jaguar was fun when i was able to actually drive it. they would have it for a couple of months at a time when it failed.

That was my concern buying a Jaguar as historically they have been known for a very unreliable car. My Porsche was always rock solid. I had a couple minor issues with each one but all in all they were a solid car. I am hoping the same for my F Type and hoping your situation was more of an anomaly than anything.

Holy smokes, this is an old thread. I apologize, for keeping it alive. Former Carrera S owner. I guess I have nothing to add that hasn't already been said. The Porsche is a better handling car, I loved the feedback and the manual tranny. I felt like when I was in 'flow' in that car, I was invincible. However, the Jag is still my favorite. The interior is much better, and the the noise, the power... it has this direct connection to the 13 year old in me. The F-Type is the only car so far that makes me laugh out loud when I drive it.
I should add, I lost an AJ133 to coolant pipe failure. No issues like that w the Carrera.

It's that outdated belief among the uninformed that makes Jags such a bargain when buying used. The F-Type is my fourth "modern" Jag and they've all been as reliable as my Japanese Nissan, which was voted "most reliable car of the year" some time back. While no car is ever going to be 100% reliable, Jaguars are no less reliable overall than other makes, IME.

Haven't owned one but I rented a 991 S while cross shopping the two. That car was definitely quicker (although with my VAP pulley/tune coming in.. might be a different story) and that chassis stability was just wow, but the price, curb appeal, and personality of the Jag won me over.

The 911 is a beautiful piece IMO. I couldn't buy a Boxter S nor a Cayman S simply since I wanted more HP so the 911 S or Turbo was my goal. I had a 996tt and loved the car-so many options; tune, exhaust, intake and they add nice HP. The S has much less options for adding HP but still so much more than the Boxter or Cayman. I hope to plant another Porsche in a few years next to the Jaguar.
