Aftermarket parts are so limited and its been nearly two years since the car came out. I would also be interested in headers.

Default doubt it

The sports cats for the older XKRs are occasionally built (I have a set on my car) and these cars have a roaring group of modders of which I'm one. There have been a couple attempts at headers but so far no one I know of has put them into production (really isn't a lot of room). So, if you want a set, you may have to bite the bullet and have them custom built. If you go the custom route having someone work up a set of racing cats shouldn't be that hard. Fooling the smog system is a bit of an art but it just means pulling the secondary oxy sensor back out of the stream until it stops coding. These things seem to breath pretty well though so I'd think you'd get more bang for the buck with a pulley and a tune particularly given you don't have an S. In fact I'll bet you have more intake capacity and exhaust capacity than you are currently using.

Milltek had one for the XK 5.0l available through Eurotoys here, $2,000.
Milltek High-Flow Sports Cats Jaguar XKR 5.0L, Eurotoys,Ltd.

capristo has one in their complete system for some $9,000 but you could ask them if they would sell just the CATs.

Jaguar : Jaguar F-Type V8 S complete (Incl. Remote)

I e-mailed Miltek to see if they plan on making some for the F-Type.

I had my exhaust guy take down my F-Type exhaust but the flanges are some custom connector he would have to attempt to duplicate and he was not sure that it would be sealed and would take several attempts. That and that our exhaust system now has 3 O2 sensor per side, one, pre, mid and post sensor woudl mean that any custom job most certainly would require many tries to get rid of the CEL. It toook me a year to get rid of the CEL in my XKR-S .... now however it sounds beautifully.

Capristo said no to selling just the CATs;

"Just to clarify our system is a VALVED exhaust therefore it is not always loud. The reason for the valves is to give you a very reasonable tolerable sound when the valves are closed and a nice race car like sound when the valves are open. The system also comes with a Programmable remote system that allows you to open and close these valves as you wish or program them to open at certain rpm.

Also we do not sell them separately.

Sincerely,"

This certainly is not consistent with JCis149's experience: "Valves closed or open, it's soooo loud you can hardly tell the difference. This is disappointing, however, because if I want to be quiet going down my neighborhood late at night or early in the morning, can't do. It's ridiculously loud regardless."

Yeah, I find that stupid too. If i have a valved system I want more difference than loud and a little less loud. Otherwise I could just have electronic cut-outs and be done with and NOT spend $10K on an exhaust.

and here is the response from Milltek:

Good afternoon Dominic,

Many thanks for your email.

With regards your enquiry we currently have no plans to manufacture a system for the Jaguar F-Type model variants.

We're in. I've been looking for an F-Type owner to work with. We will do 200 cell cats and a sports system for these cars. I just need an owner to work with on development. It will involve some downtime, but it will be worth your while

We have an excellent reputation in the Aston Martin community, and are working on winning the Jag guys over!!!

Please email me at Stuart@VelocityAP.com if you are interested and I will contact you to discuss further.

Are you developing a valved (quiet/loud) system or will it just be loud? Ideally one could have a Tesla-quiet vs hammers-o-hell-loud.

The CEL for cat efficiency can be turned off with an ECU flash.

Have done that on my XJR after fitting 100 cell cats. Also did that to another XJ here that has 100 cell cats fitted.

"Fooling" the downstream O2 sensors is not a good solution, the ECU uses them for the closed-loop fuelling.

To answer in short. Yes yes and more yes. I'm fine tuning a system for the XKR currently.
I'm rather surprised with the cost of the Capristo system and the photos of the weld quality. It may be the photo but for 10k, the cats seem lacking in the bead quality.

I will be building a Mid-pipe and Header system for both the 6 Cylinder and V8.
Once I wrap up the headers for the XKR I will be moving on this. Attached are some photos for encouragement.

I'm working on locating either a local V6 and V8 to build on or, If someone wants to send me a midpipe or Cat , to Scan for CAD data that would help

I'm working on getting these parts from Jaguar to get at least the mid-pipe and Cat system rolling for the F-types.

Additionally, who is relatively close to Charlotte, NC that is interested in being a test mule?

Regards,
Derek Fricke

Try a pm to thebigcat. He's from Mooresville, and seems like the type who might be game. He just had a vintage Land Rover renovated in the UK from the ground up and shipped to the US.
