Default Will these tires fit?

I was wondering if the Nitto NT05R fit on the rear? The size is 305/35/20. Stock is 295/30/20. Any particular drag radial in a 20 that has been tried and seems to work? Cecil.............

That will fit with no problem. A number of folks on the forum have already done that, one or two even with a negative offset spacer (wider track). For drag tires check out Mickey Thompsons and don't expect to get more than a couple dozen miles of wear out of them. buickfunnycar can give you more detailed advice.

I had Nitto N555R's on my 1970 Chevelle SS454 in 305/35-18's and they hooked great once you got them hot...here's some out takes from the CHP photoshoot, disregard the numbers:

Can I fit 295/30/19 on my 6S? Car comes with a 275 rear tire...I know come track season I will want a stickier wider rear tire.

Yes, the V8 cars come with a 295/30/20 tire, and I have a set on my base convertible.

Good, wasn't sure a 295 would fit on a 19x9 rear wheel.

The 20" you have are making me wanna upgrade.

Yes, I had 18's on my base, and put a set of R coupe 20s on my car. The bolt pattern for all the F-Type wheel options are the same.

There is no effect on the speedometer as the overall diameter stays the same. Larger wheels are mounted with tires that have shorter sidewalls.

It will fit, bit it will be almost an inch smaller in diameter than your front wheels. You would be better off with a 295/35/19.

As Foosh confirms, you can go up in wheel size with properly matching tire profiles, but you can't necessarily go down in wheel size as the caliper/rotor dimensions increase for the S and R models respectively.

You actually have a 19x9.5 rim on the rear. The 275 is already at the upper range of fit for that rim. A 10.5" rim is actually the minimum width recommended for a 295 tire. You could still mount the 295 on a 9.5 rim, but it would look pinched and reduce the effective tire patch by creating a curvature on the tread.

Also take a look at the technical specs of the tire. i.e. some tires are larger than others given the exact same specs.. Don't worry so much about the tire numbers (i.e. 275 or 295), look at the actual width of the tire you are going to buy and size it to the wheels you are using. Most sites like Tirerack publish the actual dimension of the tires.

Default Tires

Pricing and buying my first set of tires now, being on the track for a day and about 13g miles later I think I got a good set out of the stock tires. Will be looking to go up to the 295's though, maybe a softer ride.

Thank you for the correction lhoboy, that makes more sense.

Hmm exactly what I was fearing. I might be better off staying with a 275 tire then. I just find it lacks the visual agression of that found on a 20'/295 setup.

I will be putting on 305's on my 10.5 inch rims even though 295 is the specified limit for that rim width. If you can find a 285 tire, even though beyond recommended limits for the 9.5" rim, I don't believe it will significantly degrade your performance unless you are tracking the car.
