Would you get a suede cloth interior? Panoramic roof??
I am contemplating trading in my F-type convertible (Amyth. Black, V6) for an R coupe. For colors, I am debating between FireSand, White, or maybe BRG. I think that you can't go wrong with white for this car, but the Firesand would definitely pop and the BRG would be unique/classy.
I am wondering about the suedecloth interior instead of leather. If this material holds up well to wear, it may seem more practical in terms of the car being cooler in the summer and the seats warner in the cold weather.
As for the panoramic roof, I think that the black contrast looks very cool with the White and the orange, but would not make sense with the BRG. Not sure if the cabin would feel "cramped" enough to warrant the function of it though. I don't like the idea of a manual pull curtain in a 100k car and, that seems to take some of the sport nature away. Seems like if you love the outside color of your car, you may not want to take that color off the roof and replace it with a blacked out top.

I had Alcantara in my Audi S5. I find that it tends to crease very easily. Would not recommend based on my experience.

I love the alcantara seats and door inlays on my TT-RS. Makes the car feel and look more upscale vs plain leather. As for wear and tear, it all looks brand new after a year and a half of daily use. I never heard of it creasing like drgek mentioned. I don't believe that is a common issue with the fabric.
I have the same dilemma with the roof. I really like the idea of the full moon roof, but I'm not really liking the blacked out look on the outside. I think the coupe looks much better as a solid color. Of course if you go with a black car that would be a non issue. I'll have to do a test drive with that option to see if it is a must have.

The suedecloth of the standard seats seems very durable, and has the benefits you mention (no need for electric *****-warmers). It is only the central panel of each seat though.
Sunroof does look good with white, but from the inside it is a "solution" to a problem created by the black headlining. If you don't want the interior to feel claustrophobic, spec the lighter headlining. It's also 10s of lbs lighter...

Geeez .....
Reading the anti suede article is making me rethink my position on interior material choice. I do know for a fact that suede sport steering wheel ( BMW E46 M 3 ) looks like crap after a short period of time. I've seen it and I was surprised on how nasty and worn out the steering wheel looked.

LOL . . . you see an awful lot of stressed and worn leather in 4-5 year old cars as well. I've had alacantra/suede seats in 4-6 year old cars that looked a lot better than some leather cars of the same age. I
t all depends upon the quality of the respective materials, and only time will tell with regard to the leathers and suedes used in the F-Type. However, so far, so good.

Also works for gear knobs and parking brake handles....

When I ordered my 2016 V6S those were the only choices. I'd have opted for the standard roof if it were available. I open the shade sometimes, so it's not wasted, but I believe it contributes to the interior getting *very* hot when the car sits in the sun.

I really like the pano roof. If the pano roof wasn't available, I would have gotten the vert. despite the advantages of the coupe (more storage space, and to me looks better than a vert with the top up). Certainly not as exhilarating as a vert, but still open and airy. Not living in the sunbelt, I haven't noticed heat from the pano. And on a dark color (BRG in my case), the resulting black roof looks good. I do agree that it detracts a bit on the lighter colors, particularly white.
