Does it do anything to improve the "blown bass" sound? That's a biggest issue I have. Some of my songs have nothing in the low range when it should be there, others make the subs sound completely outmatched.

Hi guys the official fix was released today with a new version of SDD. I'll get it installed tonight and the data on it so you can take it to the dealer for an update.

Nati- It does get rid of most of it but I'm hoping this final file is a little smoother.

Ditto!

Very bad bass equalization, along with really bad door-driver breakup/distortion at certain frequencies.

Do you have the JTB or SSM reference for it?

I'm assuming it's different to the earlier SSM73060 that was mentioned, anyway...?

Also, does anyone know if this type of fix can be applied without turning a performance tuned ECU into a brick?

This new version that is bundled with the Amp config file is much better! If you run that module it should fix it. Being stuck in traffic I noticed the difference and it's so much better. No rattles, could use a little more mid range. Even turned the bass and subs bast 50% and the treble around 75% and it sounded great.

unhinged - Your not touching the PCM or ECU calibrations so it won't even notice. If its done correctly and with the correct tools. The dealer should not notice your ECM changes unless they dig into the configuration where there is a DTC.

Flashing the AAM (Audio Amplifier Module) or the IAM (Integrated Audio Module) has nothing to do with the PCM (Powertrain Control Module) so it will have zero negative effect on your tune.

Cambo and MaximA,
Thank you for the confirmation. I thought that was the case but needed to double check. Am eagerly awaiting the appropriate reference numbers to quote my dealer.

It's no longer a separate update but tied to the updated AAM module. If you run the configuration for it the fix will be installed.

Just make sure the dealer as updated to SDD 148.00 Software Management Pack v256 and the correct Vehicle file.

I'm not sure how often dealers update SDD but what's in this latest package is more refined than the downloaded fix.

This was found in the pdf for the SDD update, and there is not other information that I have seen.

15MY > 17MY F-TYPE / X152
(NAS market and Canada only)
This update contains a software update to the Audio Amplifier Module (AAM) to resolve a concern
relating to poor sound quality
This is to support a future Technical Bulletin. Full details will appear soon in the ‘Activity Stream’
section on TOPIx.
17MY XE / X760
16MY > 17MY XF / X260
17MY F-PACE / X761
16MY > 17MY XJ / X351

I think the issue is speaker distortion or clipping that sounds like a rattle, possibly incorrect crossover frequencies or someth Like that. However, everytime you have the dealer take off interior parts, don't be surprised if new rattles appear.
Unless you are certain that it's all physical vibration that's is the rattle. In which case just disregard my comment.

I haven't been super active on the forum of late, but wanted to stop by and thank whoever posted this TSB.

Let me preface this by saying I'm not a music snob and was sceptical of all these posts of the audio system not working properly. Mine seemed to work ok, but if I increased sub or bass then there was a lot of resonance in the car so I always kept that down.

I was taking the car in for its annual maintenance this week and I figured why the hell not, printed this TSB and asked the tech to apply it (BMCD in SF). I got the car back today and I can definitely tell that something has changed in the sound. It sounds a lot clearer now and I can even increase the sub and bass past mid to make it sound even thumpier for todays hit pop songs. It really does sound better now even to my non snobbish ears.

I'm just sad that it seems like I was living with an inferior audio system map for a year and half and all it required to make it sound so much better was a new software update.

Thank you again! and if you're skeptical like me go ahead and do it and you might find your audio improve too!

FWIW, taking the printout helps. My tech said he wouldn't have done anything had I not taken the printout and shown him exactly what SW needed to be downloaded and how. Good luck!

Sorry I am still not clear. What precisely do we need to print and show to the dealer?

Just got my car back from the dealer today and I can confirm that the software update did fix the buzzing from the tweeter.

Your dealer should already have the update for the software and the bulletin is literally called "SSM73060 - Buzzing Sound From Tweeter Speakers (Coupe Only)"

Thanks MaximA.

A small update for UK owners (considering that SSM73060 does not seem to apply to my UK car, nor does the SDD update mentioned earlier).

There is apparently a "vehicle enhancement" program underway, with all UK MY16 F-Type owners being gradually contacted over the next 3 months to come in for some "infotainment updates" . I'm still waiting for the details of what this is, but I'm praying/hoping it's related to the audio. This is straight from Jag CRC who I've been continuing to pester over the audio quality issues. However, it only applies to MY16 cars which is puzzling in itself.

Mine is booked in next week for a separate warranty repair, so I'm waiting to see if they can apply this at the same time, I'll let you know.

On a related note, I'm still continuing to chase up why neither SSM73060 or SDD148 apply to any cars outside N. America...I'm attempting to get it escalated from CRC to the Technical team in Jag UK but this is a work in progress (I could be wrong but I doubt US/CA cars have different audio amplifier modules vs UK cars so I'm still puzzled why these updates only apply to N.America).
