Wrap back
Got the beast back wrapped. Decided against a re paint. Went with avery dennison urban jungle color shift. Im sure this look might not appeal to everyone. Ill post better pics when sun is out and not raining. Aside from the grees and violets you can pick up yellows and aqua depending on angle.

Is Avery Dennison of benchmark quality? What might be the cost differential of re-paint? What are the major upsides of wrap? I would like to consider wrapping but have little tech knowledge re; products and applicators. This forum allows me to "research" with little or no commercial bias....Thanks FRG.

[QUOTE=jaguny;2319813]How did they prep the car before wrap? any major part removals? I had to pay more than $1600 for a partial clear film, but they did a clay and polish and ceramic coating on entire
Hmm could be location, I live in kansas. Guy has been wrapping for years, and did the trucks for the Chiefs, figured that was good enough for me. He did a great job.

$1600 is an amazing price. But I really find it to be location based for sure, I'm in the Bay Area CA and it's a higher cost of living which reflects onto labor based work like wrap installation.
Avery Dennison is probably the most popular wrap, it's a good middle ground between finish quality and installation effort. I got an Inozetek wrap, which is a new player in the market with a super high gloss finish (almost looks like paint) but is much more difficult to install owing to its added thickness and lack of elasticity.

Do you know how extensive the prep was as that adds to the cost. My clear wrap front of car, side sills and mirrors with the clay bar, polish and ceramic was north of $2k. Regardless $1600 is a great price.

he probably just gave it a good wash as I had clayed it myself and waxed it about a month prior.

I am and have been curious about wrap. I am picking up my R tomorrow and it was ceramic coated, including the rims and calipers along with Xpel over the bulk of the car and it is double your wrap price. I am curious as to how thick the film is and how it gets removed and if there is any potential paint issues after. The first F Type R I looked at in town was a white one that was just beat on a dealer show room floor. The paint was dull although they tried to shine it up and still residue on the car. I asked what was wrong with it and they said they "thought there was wrap on it and maybe it isn't cleaned off enough." Could have been the dealers laziness of just wanting to flip the car rather than properly clean it off.

@ whatsnext, xpel is the same as a color wrap in application except its clear instead of colored. As fas as removal I have seen people peel it off easily, tough spots they use a heat gun. I would gather a good wash and clay would remove any residue. This is all new to me too, but loving the new look.
