Grilles seem to be the place car designers go to ruin a good design (Audi has done this recently following Lexus cues I expect; there are others).

How long do these wraps last? Average cost?

 

What is typically quoted is around 5-7 years. Granted, this can be longer depending on the use and storage of the vehicle. Wrap prices range, but you can expect somewhere in the $2500-4000 range.

 

That's right. If you are parking the car in the sun all day it wont last very long at all, though maybe white would last longer than darker colours because it would reflect heat. I asked a wrap place about wrapping my daughter's MiTo, they said if it is outside even at night pretty much forget it.

I had my skirts wrapped gloss black over 3 years ago and they look as good as new, car garaged most of the time.

Cheap wraps can get baked on to the car and make a real mess when they are being removed.

 

XPel on for almost 5 years. Still glossy and shiny. A few minor nicks on the bonnet where serious paint chipping would have otherwise occurred. Rocker panel wrap needs to be replaced every 3 years due to road rash just in front of the rear wheel wells. I can only imagine what the paint would look like if I didn’t have film there.

Yep but materials cost is around $600-$800 for 75 ft of a quality wrap which is enough to do most cars after a mistake or two. Avery vinyl is so flexible it can be applied perfectly by anyone willing to watch a few youtube videos and do a lot of work.

 

I can get pictures of what it looks like if you're interested. I only have the factory clear patches in place.

 

Don't bother. I like exercising my imagination.

 

If I did a wrap it would have to be something crazy like a chrome color. If I am paying $3500 I want it unique and far from a stock color.

 

If you imagine pitting, you're spot on. I don't have a lot of problem with wear from legitimate usage though. I do have a problem with people being selfish, stupid, or careless. There's a scuff half the length of my car that's probably from someone walking alongside it while carrying something that dragged along the side. Grrrrrr.

 

How deep? If someone grazed it and it's a white scuff, that should wet-sand out.

 

It won't need wet-sanding. Some of the lightest cut compound and the random-orbital will clean it up, but it's really annoying that it's there at all.

 

Had a Halloween event this weekend, got this on amazon for $80 took a few hrs of pulling and yanking plus heat but came out good, and use the 3M knifeless tape for easy clean lines. Removing after the event so we will see how it comes off.

 

That is too cool. I wouldn’t mind installing something like that on a permanent basis. BTW, What’s the status of the illuminated medallions you were going to offer up?
