Yes, "lhoboy" wrapped his BRG in XPel Ultimate, and I saw it last weekend in full sun. I couldn't see any difference between wrapped and naked areas.

OK...after getting my first front facia tock chip I'm getting xpel ultimate installed next week. Full front bumper and facia, full hood, front fenders, mirrors side rocker panels, rear quarters, and spoiler . wish I did it before delivery... Using installer my dealer uses and saw their work. High end cars. Definitely will give me piece of mind. Once again these forums are invaluable. I appreciate the insight so many if the members provide. You guys rock (no pun intended)!

unhingd here, (formerly known as lhoboy) can confirm no difference between filmed and cQuartzed BRG, both of which I think pop more than the naked BRG

Default PPF Care

99GSP,

Glad to hear that you decided to move forward and get your film done before accumulating too many rock chips. I think that you will be happy with your decision.

Are you doing this job with an installer in New Jersey? If you are, would you mind posting or sending me a PM with his name and number? I don't need any work done now and I am very happy with my current film but I like to retain names of qualified technicians for future reference. Thank you.

Ed

Entire car was cQuartzed before more than half of it was wrapped.

My car is covered with the f-performance film I think that this brand is a decent protection film for the body surface of any car when the stones hit the right wing , they don’t leave a chip, and the traces on the film disappears under the hot sun.

all you guys with PPF, just be careful if you go to have the car coated after the fact. There are certain coatings that can go on paint or ppf, certain manufacturers have dedicated PPF coatings (flexibility issues), and some coatings flat out should not be used on PPF. They can actually be dragged off the PPF by normal washing etc. so you'll waste the money to have it put on.

My PPF guy (who developed the original Super car templates for XPel) has always been adamant that the ceramic coating should go on the paint before the PPF is applied. Common opinion on this forum has shunned that position believing that the PPF would not adhere properly to the ceramic coating. My PPF after five and a half years says otherwise.

And I would agree with him on that point. Nothing wrong at all with a properly applied ceramic coating under PPF, just makes the coating last longer and *should* leave the car protected should the PPF need to come off.

Just put my car through the car wash, that’s it. I don’t wax or use anything else. This is my second car with Xpel since 2017 and car looks like new. Maintance free
