I am looking to get the transmission fluid and pan changed in my car. My mechanic does not mind me bringing my own parts so I am hoping to get some recommendations for what I need and where I should purchase it. Anyone have any experience with Blauparts.com - they seem to be primarily a BMW parts place, but they have a kit which includes Ravenol fluid that meets JLR specs. I assume this is all I need to get the job done?
Here was my Instruction Manual for the ATF replacement I did last year. Keep @Therock88 in your SEARCH criteria, he provides GREAT step-by-step instruction for any task you are contemplating...
I used genuine ZF fluid so I can't comment on the Ravenol brand. Does a new pan gasket come with that kit?
SUGGESTION: Put a metal 90-degree elbow on the fluid pump tube shown in your link. That will prevent melting of the tubing and burning of your skin, LOL.
Amazon of all places offers the fluid pretty cheap. About $18-20 per quart if you buy a kit with 7 quarts included. As for the filter/pan. eBay has been my best source for OEM ZF branded versions. I’d steer clear of Dorman or other knock offs.

I have purchased from them before and they sell good stuff. I would agree with Carbuff on using the ZF Fluid as well👌. That said, I have used Ravenol fluids on many of my Porsches and BMWs and it is great quality as well...Just not enough good info on the ZF Fluid spec for me to stray from their specific oil.
Appreciate the input! I'm not changing the fluid myself, but my mechanic is fine with me bringing parts so I just want to make sure I'm getting everything he needs.
bought an original ZF Kit including oil pan and ZF-fluid. Now I'm in the process to prepare
all tools and myself to get the job done. Reading lot of tutorials about it one question still
remains unanswered. Should the wheels turn while switching through the gears or is it
correct to "drive" against the brakes keeping the wheels static?
Appreciate any advice from people who already done the job by themselves.
Test run the Mini Cooper of my son up on the lift after a drive shaft repair caused
the traction control system to go nuts, so I'm a bit concerned about how the jag will
behave.

Thanks - this looks like just what I was looking for - Appreciate it!
Yes...Correct. Press brake firmly as you shift through the gears...You DO NOT want the wheels to start spinning while in the air. With no load/weight on them, they will really take off!
All covered in the DIY I wrote as indicated by DJS above.
