I have a leak in coolant system. There is a puddle on floor just under the RH catalytic converter. At the bottom of the Catalyic converter I can feel that it is wet but cannot see any hoses or anything above it that could be leaking. I asked local Jag. dealer what it could be and he said probably heater hoses but he would not tell me how to get to the area where it might be leaking. I cannot find anything at all in the JTIS CD about heaters. He said it would cost about $800 to fix. Help please.

I had a very small puddle in the same place and found a water trace running down the bell housing. It turned out to be a small crack in a plastic connector in the heater hose assembly my mechanic called 'the octopus'- a bunch of hoses and connectors that are really hard to get to just above the bell housing. I think the part was about $240 Canadian and the whole job about $700.

If you're having trouble finding information on Engine Cooling / Heater Hoses for 2000MY, try searching under an earlier MY.
The JTIS sequence Service - XJ Series - 1998 - Power Train - Engine Cooling - Description and Operation - Engine Cooling returns a document describing the cooling system including several diagrams which could prove extremely useful to your understanding of the system and the possible location of your coolant leak.
