2002-2003 XJ Sport 4.0L V8 - Year model?
I realize the year model is in my VIN# as a 2003 XJ, however, the MFD was 1/02? Typically, a model year follows within the second half of the year model manufactured date.
The reason I ask is I don't know if I have the "bad" timing chain tensioner, etc.
I cannot even order keys because for whatever reason the locksmiths can do 2002 but not 2003.
Also, the paint code is LHK (Quartz Grey) which was only offered in 2002 models.
Please help!!! I think I have fallen into a crack somehow.
BTW, the 10th digit in the VIN is a 3 which "should" mean an '03 model however its MFD was 1/02. Thats JANUARY 2002. Could I be a 2002n1/2?

OK, you have a late X308 model with a 4 litre engine, and so cannot be sure the upper timing chain tensioners are OK, so you at least need to check them out by removing one of the cam covers. If you see a metal tensioner body, then it's OK.
You may have to see a Jaguar dealer to get a new key.
