new to the group, thanks for having me.
I have had a 2002 type x with the 2.5? 6 cylinder for over a year, its got about 88,000 on it. when I bought it at 80,000 I put new plugs and coil pacs in, its been a great running car up until today, My doughtier was driving it and the car quit on her as she was getting off an off ramp. she tried to restart it twice and " it just sputters and died again " when I got to her about 30 min. later. the car started up fine and I drove it home. the car ran strong, no signs of trouble other that the check engine light. when I checked the codes they we all misfire codes, P 306.p305.p303.p302.p301 p 0300 and p1316, I cleared the codes and have had it running for an hour with no sighs of issues.
puzzles me that it fired up and is running ok right now, any thoughts? possible bad gas? I live in New England, possibly condensation in the tank?
any guesses,
Thanks
Peter

Peter, I would start with asking "when was the last time the fuel filter was replaced?". We have seen the fuel filter create some interesting problems. Besides, it is an easy and cheap thing that this car needs done. If this happens again, what I want you to try is turning the ignition key to the RUN position (DO NOT take it to START). Do you hear the fuel pump run for a few seconds then stop? You should. If you don't, it could be the fuel pump that is failing. By pausing before going to START, you let the fuel system get up to pressure and this will allow the car to start.
if you do not hear the pump and/or the car still will not start, I want you to try getting your arm under the car by the passenger (right) side rear door. If you look under the car, you will see the gas tank there. In the tank, you are going to see a half moon indentation. Make a fist and give the center of the half moon a good "THUMP". See if the car starts now. We have discovered that jarring the fuel pump can give it a little more life.
