Default 2005 VDP - Coolent temp sensor error

Hi everyone excited to find this group! I am the owner of a 2005 VDP with 100K miles SE WI - USA and she is amazing. However……. I am getting a coolant temp sensor error, intermittently mostly pops when driving on freeway and it will put car in limp mode. Let me start with the car is not hot however the gage goes full hot and you can pull over turn key off remove key reinsert key start and she will be fine again and back to normal…. To be safe I replaced the coolant temp sensor which was a very easy job. But it did not fix the problem. Still will intermittently peg hot and go into limp mode once you slow down.

I am thinking possible a broken wire (no resistance) however the wiring bundle is very secure and looks to be in very good condition. I have not opened the conduit to find the individual wire set or traced it back to behind the motor as of yet.

Any ideas on another way to test without cutting the conduit open to hunt for a wire?

Ok could be wiring or the actual sensor don't throw parts without a proper diagnosis
