Hi there
I知 trying to establish the exact spec of a car I知 interested in buying. I believe I can use the VIN which I have to do that. Can anyone advise if I can check the spec online with the VIN pls?

Welcome to the forum wookietaff,
The VIN alone does nor give the full specification of a Jaguar. It will give body style (e.g. saloon, coupe), trim level, engine size and type, emission type, transmission type and year of manufacture.
From the VIN, a Jaguar Dealer can lookup the exact specification of the vehicle on the Jaguar Direct Dealer warranty system. This specification printout on my XK is a three page document.

many thanks for the quick reply. I’ll try that tomorrow morning and hope a dealer will be abliging. I’m specifically trying to determine whether the car has the Speed and Black packs as advertised. I have used online VIN search facilities but none mention these packs on the spec list for the car. So despite visually looking like it has both I just want to be certain it left the factory with them.
Thanks again

There is another way to obtain the full specification.
The information is held on the Jaguar TOPIx system. This is where a dealer would obtain the information for you BUT anyone with a TOPIx account (like me) can do the same.
This is the TOPIx result for my XK:
The Vehicle Summary > view all vehicle details at the top right brings up this screen:
The Minor features tab allows me to print exactly the same full specification list I obtained from my dealer.
The system is so insecure that I can do exactly the same for any Jaguar or Land Rover in the UK simply by entering the VIN.

OSH (OnLine Service History) was introduced in 2014 so this 2011 vehicle will (or should) have a stamped paper Service Book for the earlier servicing.
My 2014 has complete OSH because it was delivered in March 2014.

GGG - I'm sorry to be pushy in literally my first 10 minutes as a forum member, but could you look up a build sheet for me? I'm looking at something online and want to make sure it's what it's supposed to be.
Thank you!

Hello GGG, can I also be very cheeky and request details for my car?
VIN is SAJJPALF3BP794533
It is a lovely X306, with I believe special order V12 autolux seats and wood, but it would be great to have this confirmed.
When I try Topix as you suggest I get very little data......
Thank you so much if you can help
Peter

Welcome to the forum Peter,
I also get very little information from TOPIx for your vehicle but that is not entirely surprising as comprehensive build sheet data generally only goes back about twenty years. However, it does indicate an XJ12 version with a 6 cylinder S/C engine from new.
The Jaguar published VIN System decode for X300 is only slightly more informative:
Your VIN follows this listing apart from Prefix 10 which I would expect to be V for 1997.
You may be able to find more specification details through the supplying dealership or previous owners.

Thank you, I have paperwork at home which shows the suppling dealer.
She spent her early years in Wales (I have all the MOT's), so I will get on it as soon as we get home on Saturday.
In the mean time I have bought some jaguar x300 brochures off the bay and having fun reading these!
Thank you,
Peter
