Auxiliary Fuse Box Issues X250 XF March 2013

Hi. Looking for some advice please. Please excuse the rather long intro!
Just before Xmas, the "Battery Not Charging" warning light came on. All the local garages had closed for Xmas; the AA attended and fitted a new main battery. The warning light was still displayed however. The AA thought this was likely to be due to a problem with the Auxiliary fuse box but was adamant the car would still be ok to drive. We live in Lancashire and had to drive to Glasgow that day. The car was ok on the way there and on the way back to Lancashire with some limited use whilst in Glasgow over New Year. The local garage weren't able to take the car for repair until last week and although the warning light is still showing, the car has been ok to drive. The local garage has now confirmed an issue with the auxiliary fuse box and I'm trying to source a used replacement (To date the only one I've found has been from a supplier listed on e-Bay although they don't have the wires and plugs the local garage think might also be needed). We need to go back to Glasgow soon, possibly before the new auxiliary fuse box will have been fitted.
Does anyone know please if the car is likely to be ok to drive another 450/500 miles with the Battery Not Charging" warning still on and a new auxiliary fuse box fitted?
Grateful for any input.
Thanks.
